Hi guys,
Raced one of the last model 740i BMW's yesterday Was from a standing start but I had to slow down so that he can get infont of me (traffic)....my response was a bit late as I did not think he was going to dice after some provocation from my side earlier Well, I gave him a gap and was about 2 cars behin him. Up to 160km/h the gap stayed exactly the same and it was on a slight uphill. Guy must have thought that he would kill my 1800
What is the spec of the last models? I know it is a 4,4l and does 0-100km/h in about 6.8s

It like comparing a Spaceship & a Cart .....besides the guy in the 740 had probably not even lifted a hand of the rest between the seats while his bottom was massaged by the chair while listening to Sonata # 3 by Bach meanwhile you were shifting the gears at 6500 revs sweating and drooling over that idea of outrunning him this very primal instinct we all have 9incl. me) to show the rich bastard that his R700,000 ride is a piece of scrap.
On a serious note I am just surprised by the fact that the guy was game. Actualy I am surprised that he was provoked by an A3 (if not mistaken)but nevertheless the comparison is difficult hell I got people in Ford Cortina bakies vintage 1981(tweeked I am sure as all of these in the Westrand are showing me dust while driving a S3 so what it proves jack....
Hey dont get pissed off I am just having a lough but even though I love my Audi I would probably choose the 740i as the cooler (and faster) ride of the two.
There are a few Bentley Continentals here in Bryanston if you are keen

I know but I like challenges that is worth my while I'm tired of guys in souped up Corsa 1300 trying to race me I'm looking for Scoobies, 330s, OPC, GTI 180s and S3's
I was also surprised that he accepted ....that is the reason why he caught me off guard
PS: I did not do it to show him that he drives a piece of crap! His car is much more sophisticated that mine could ever be Pure a friendly dice between two cars

yeah I understand know that the BM drivers are often up for it no matter what model they drive I had a guy in M3 up William Nicol the other day playing or toying with me but hey my car is just a 1.8T so I don't look at even considering it. I wouldn't have thought that an M3 driver is so insecure and keen to proove himself as the king of the jungle.
Rule is to only pick a scrap if you are confident to win it.
(in my case not many)

Jaco, that must have been an interesting run.
I think if you look at specs it does make sense that you would have been able to give him a run. But you car is quick, and considering that BMW was running at the coast, it makes your car look even more impressive

Rememmber its more about the driver than the car... When I had my gorgeous Z3 3.0i, I could send off a TT in JHB (Altitude and all). When against my mates TT, who is not a big driver I drilled him by 2 car lengths between robots...
Its all about the driver...
Tiptronics and launch control on the new cars somewhat levels the playing fields -
Love Tiptronic!
Got my ass handed to my 2002 S6 by a Jag XKR last night up Corlett, he was playing with me pulling away and letting me catch up again whilst I was full taps! That is also a serious machine (180kw/ton)!!! enter the RS6 territory eh...

Driver driver driver .....I found the Z3 to be a slowish car (than again I have only driven the 2.8) but the expectation was higher my 1.8T with a little help from a chip / software could be a match ......but lets not forget again to compare Apples with Apples the Jag XKR will surely be stronget than a starved of fuel and air S6 but than again you could have 3 passangers and a boot full of golf clubs and still run with him @ the coast.
So if I take pride of outrunning 320 /Accord / Mondeo or 626 that is only because I compare 4 door saloon vs 4 door saloon and thats that....
I won't dice with Corsas or Fiat Palios ...would you ????

Hi Kevin,
It is a very heavy car
I did however thought that he would leave me after 100km/h.....perhaps if I cahnged to 4th at 170km/h he would've started to pull away! His top speed is much better than mine

I think that is great. The guys must remember its not always about winning the race, its about seeing how well your car does against other beasts. I would certainly race a RS6 or other monsters even though i know they will completely cane me !!! I really love seeing the way my car performs against any car, it really lets me know my cars capabilities.
So to all the guys in the RS6's and other beautiful extremely fast cars please race us even though you know you will beat us, it really gives guys like us a thrill. (The done up Datsun bakkies etc really dont do it for us we like the supreme).
Regards to you all.
