Guys,

If memory serves me correctly, the engine in the 2.3 Microbus is the same as the one in the old 500 E and SE's. But is it also the same as the one in the Audi turbo? If so, what mods did Audi do to the engine when they added the turbo?

And where this leads me is, can one then turbocharge a 2.3 Microbus with out damaging it, and if so is there a REVO code for it?

Thanks
Rich

Compression ratios on the Microbus engine will definitely not favour turbo'ing it

I doubt that Revo will have code for such an old engine.

I am sure the block would be the same as the Audi block. I doubt that the head would be the same as the turbo 10V or 20V head. From the basic block, I guess you can build a mighty RS2 ADU engine. If you do it stick to something standard - i.e. build it up to 500 Turbo (10V) spec or 20V ABY, so that you have software that works. I would not buy a K24 for such a conversion - rather go Garrett.

Sounds exiting but it is probably not worth it. You would have to buy way too many parts!

I have always fanticised about fitting an AUDI 500SEL with the 2.6 Litre 5 cylinder Kombi engine. Maybe supercharge it for that little edge over the competition

The 5-Cylinder engine has an amazing sound. Rivalled only by a 5-Cylinder Turbo and an American V8. Pity these power plants were never fitted by AUDI in anything larger than 2.3 Litres.
