Hi,

Has anyone had any problem with there turbo on a S3? Where the car actually goes into a state of limbo, No Boost no turbo kick, no fun what so ever.
I have been to Audi a number of times with the same problem and they never pick up a fault reading. I have demanded that they change both the Lambda Sensor and the MAF sensor. However the car still doesn't seem 100%.
Also what kind of fuel economy do fellow S3 drivers get out there, I am averaging 13l - 14l/100Kms with average urban driving.

One last question, was any club member driving on William Nicol on Saturday Night at roughly 21:10, In a Audi A4 ?? racing a S3

Can you get somebody with VAGCOM to check the fault codes for you? To me it sounds like overboost protection - a leak somewhere?

Never had anything like this...

Is your car standard? or chipped?

Not sure what it could be. No funny warning lights or funny noises? My guess would probably be a boost leak or blown turbo .

Had something very funny happen to me 2 months ago.

I was doing some logs with the VAG when the car suddenly felt a bit dead after 4500rpm. Did some logs and saw that peak actual vs peak requested boost was the same as usually but actual AND requested boost after 4500rpm went back to stock figures (not limp mode figures) and NO fault codes!! Switched the car off and on and it was back to usual figures and still no error codes!

Not sure what happened but 20VT mentioned that the ECUs sometimes have bugs in them Maybe I just woke some of them up with my hectic driving while doing logs

Hey Greg - Remember me - we met at Linbro Park Engen (Red S3)

It could be quite a few issues , stupid simple things that we need to check with a fine tooth comb. We can meet sumtime at my place and check out the entire car if u wish . I have stands ect , so we can pull out the splash tray and check the piping ect ect
Lemme know

Sounds to me like either your suppressors or the Coil pack. it caused by the terrible fuel here. The Surpressors blow, which then puts too much load on the coils which blow too.
You'll find the car struggles under full throttle load however if you put foot down slower the coil and surpressor won't break down as much giving less jumpy/lack of boost feeling.

Get them to take out the coil pack, and surpressors and test the resistance on both. Then check the plugs for damage as they tend to overheat if the coils are buggered.

Good luck.

Just to give you some feedback, After taking my car to woodmead a few time and not getting a solution, I on the recommendation of a friends SODDSS6, I took my car to Midrand. A major mission to take it there as it is no where near my house or work, but for the ones we love we have to put ourselves out.

Fault

VACUUM HOSE.

Result

The car is back to being a demon. and fuel economy seems to be coming down as well.

a big thumbs up to sold advice and Audi Midrand.

Did they say which vacuum hose it was? I'd like to check all the hoses on my A4 this weekend, but it would be nice to know which one caused your issue.
