At least: People is getting to recognise the strength of Audi.
The new A6 4.2 Quattro was voted as "World car of the Year"
Seventeen countries participated in the search for the car to take the honours of "world car" and the A6 came out tops.
Well done Audi!!!

I am not surprised. I bought the A6 4.2 late last year and had an opportunity to drive down to Cape Town with my brother who has a BMW 545i. There was nothing in it between the two cars from a performance perspective and we were really pushing them very hard. We encountered a lot of wet wheather on the way and the 4.2 was way superior. We also caught up with an S6 just before Plett; he tried to outrun us but we stuck with him all the way for +-50 km and infact overtook him. All I can say is that the A6 4.2 is a great car, at seal level it is a monster.

Hey Vee - was it a black 545 and a silver A6 4.2? If it was more like before PE, it was my S6 with my wife driving. I was really impressed with the performance of your 4.2 - we could not get away from you nor catch you when we were running behind you!

Hi Gandalf, the 545 is dark blue and the 4.2 is black. We did come accross a silver S6 just before we got to PE, the day before the Plett incident referred to above. The S6 I refer to was a dark blue one which we met near Plett a day after we saw the silver one on our way to Cape Town. If the silver S6 was yours, it looked very menacing from the rear view mirrors, for a while I thought it was an RS6. The date on which we met the silver S6 was 27/12/05 around 6.00pm, was that you !!!.

@Vuyisa, my S6 is silver and we did come across a 545 and 4.2 late afternoon on the 27th December driving west just before PE. So yep, I guess that was us! Love to meet you at a Audi Club event! What a small world

Btwn 180km/hr and 220km/hr, you could only go full out for short bursts as there was a lot of traffic. The manner in which those cars pulled off though (even at high speeds) was awesome, thanks to the altitude and the fuel grade.
