I have a broken cable on the above from an 1990 500 SE. Anybody had any luck with having the steel cable
replaced by a brake\clutch cable manufacturer??

Or got a spare floating around in the garage.

Ryss

What side r u looking for, normally the drivers side, i have fixed some of them with succes, but that was earlier when i did not mind sukkeling, see if there is a "Cableman" near u . They will be able to assist, the guy here in Bloem just became a bit rediculous with his prises, last one he did for me , he charged me R750, still better than the almost R2000 the dealer wants.

What i did was 2 buy a left front door megnism, then build it over to the right, there is a small mod u need to make, the fixture on the cable that hooks to the window need to be turned around, but what happens is, whilst the cable starts fading , it damages the little plastic wheel that it rolls up and down on, that is the imported part. If u replace the cable with a worn roller, it is not going to last, but that can also be used from the left side , if u can get one. They go for anything between R250-R500 used.

U have my number, give me a call if u want more info.

Thanks to the leads and suggestions.

Right rear is the problem one. New unit is R3000.
2nd hand R750 - R550.

Going to give Super Brake a try here in Cape Town and then spend some time fiddling with springs, bushes and lots of patience.
