Does anybody know what saprk plugs I should use in my 93 S4. I took out the current plugs to check the code and it seems they are NGK BCPR7ES. This does not look like the tungsten plugs the agents sell, but I suppose they don't cost R1000 per set either. Any thoughts ?

Leon, use only Bosch F5DPOR plugs. I tried NGK Iridium and the car ran very poorly! On the Bosch plugs it flies. They are expensive but it is worth it.

I read on the forum archives that leaded and racing fuel doesn't work that well with platinum plugs. Is that correct?. I run racing fuel all the time otherwise my car pings like crazy on the current boost levels. (+- 1.4 bar midrange then down as it revs) Do you still recommend Bosch F5DPOR?

@Leon, leaded fuel will most probably cut the life of a platinum plug (and a lambda sensor) by half. I just replace the plugs and lambdas more often. I still use the Bosch plug as it works the best!

You can test with VAGCOM or a multi tester - if you want I can check that for you. But if you have been using leaded and haven't replaced the lambda in the last 50,000 km, it probably is gone.

You can get the lambda from Audi - ask for trade discount! You can also try Diesel Electric - they distribute Bosch in SA.
I have mailed you the testing procedure from the Audi Manual.
There are three wires that come out of the lambda - the two white ones are for the heater - the black one is the sensor wire. Connect the AFR gauge to the connector on the lambda side - do not cut any wires. THe ECU should not have any problems.
