I just got the Pirates of Dark Water DVD's from PoDWFan. They rule! They look excellent. The DVD starts out with the intro the the show, and then shows a menu screen with all the episodes on the DVD (4 to 5). The quality is awesome, and they play in my playstation 2 without any problems. PoDWFan was excellent with service emailing me when she got the check, and then again when she sent them in the mail. I got them 3 days after she got the check (and she is across the country from me). I was surprised by how many people were big fans of the show. When I got the DVDs in the mail everyone in my house knew what the cartoon was and I am having a party for all the fans them next week when we are all going to watch them on my TV. All in all it was an excellent deal and they look beautiful. No fan should miss this opportunity. I can stress how much I recommend them.
I was ecstatic to see that package in my mailbox one day after class. I sent my check and was contacted by e-mail to let me know my payment was received. Then I was also let know when my shipment had been on it's way. I received my DVDs just like I expected. They all work great. Some of my friends are already asking to borrow them. I just finished watching the series today. Now I have this pimpin' five volume DVD set of Pirates of Dark Water. I just wanted to say thanks.
My next wish is to find someone who has done the same with the 1990s Fox/Marvel Spider-Man series. That is another favorite cartoon of mine. If anyone knows anything about something like that, drop me a line. It would be greatly appreciated.

If you are a little hesitant about this being fake or the price being too high, just buy the dvd's. They are awesome. If you are remotly a fan of PoDW then buy them. I promise you won't be sorry. Thanks a lot DarkWaterFan.
I just got my set, and they're great. They now come in standard size DVD cases with cover art and everything. It's not archival footage quality (as noted before), but it's quite good -- I'd say 4.5/5. Considering the lack of availability, these should be a must-buy for any fan of the series!
The main benefit to these DVDs, if you already have tapes of the episodes, is the fact that they're in DVD format, and that they have better picture quality than your tapes. They're good either for people who don't already have copies of the episodes, or for really diehard fans.
Great job!

I pretty much agree with what everyone's said here. The criticisms are valid too. But I think we all agree that this is a very good fan-job and that we'll most likely never see any official Dark Water DVDs put out due to how obscure a series it is. So this is as good as it gets, and for me, it's enough.
Wouldn't mind owning one of those series bibles to go alongside the DVDs.
My DVDs were made from high quality SP VHS tapes. Professionally, the DVDs would have been taken off of the master BETA tapes from the 1990s with no logo on it.
The DVDs are the same full screen high quality format as the original TV series - full screen (as is everything on TV). Widescreen would only be if it was shot on film or digital - which at that time cartoons were not.
Instead of taking up more space, I'll just say that I agree with everything above. I'm happy that I actually have the series to watch at my leisure. This cartoon was always a favorite of mine.
