Play PODW video game online with other fans!

February 20 2003 at 7:07 PM

How many have the pc version of PODW? It's 100% exactly like the Super Nintendo version. Well It seems as if you can play 2 players ONLINE with someone else! Anyone interested?

If so I will have a link on the site where you can download all you need. PC controllers are a good $7-$10. But well worth it! Or you could use the keyboard! Arghhh!

Either way it will be more addictive than a JanadaTown hotstreak! LOL. Let me know fans what you think!

Thanks,

PODW video game

February 21 2003, 2:43 AM

That sounds pretty cool. I was playing the Super Nintendo version of the PODW game on my PC on an emulator a couple weeks ago. It was pretty fun, but not exactly addicting. I bet it'd be a lot more fun with two players.

Given how far back the tv series was released, it seems funny that a PC video game adaption WITH online support was actually made. I wonder if this is something a fan programmed.

That's what I'm saying...

It's the emulator I am talking about. There is an option to play the emulator online with people. Check out the options next time you load it up. I'll do the same and jot down what I see here...

It's possibly, maybe sorta hopefully. . . .

I happen to have SNES9X (which is the best emulator I know about). It has a netplay option, which I've tried to test. Unfortunatly, if you want to connect to someone else, it asks for a Server hostname or IP address. Maybe if you had addresses listed on the site, people could link up. It's kind of tedius, but it's better than nothing.

Yes that's the emulator

Yes that emulator is great! I think we have something here.

Actually when you all post on this board your IP is also posted. But OK. So we will add a post about our IPs and AIM/CHAT names. It won't be too bad to setup up and may well be worth it.

More later...

Update

February 22 2003, 4:20 PM

Ok now everyone can download the video game online in the video game section. If you have any questions on how to get it started, drop a post here at the message board. Eventually we will get the "online gaming" part figured out. If anyone figures it out before I do feel free to post the info here... and we will add it to the video game section so ALL can play!

Thanks,

Concerning Emulators

February 25 2003, 7:06 PM

SNES9x is an excellent emulator, but I'd have to recommend ZSNES. SNES9x hasn't been updated in a LONG time, so as a result it has fewer features than ZSNES. ZSNES does have a slightly cruder interface, but it supports NetPlay, and it uses graphics Accleration to make the GFX look even better than on the SNES. You should look into it, and decide which one you prefer, both are really good.

ZSNES

I've been using ZSNES for the past year and I've had no problems with it.

ZNES

Since we all want to play together - perhaps I can offer ZNES emulator with the video game instead? Maybe that's the best way to go.

Playback

March 1 2003, 7:53 PM

I am having issues with having the game play smoothly on my pc. Anyone else noticing this? How can I make it better? I know it has something to do with adjusting the framerate or something like that...

Thanks,

Playback Revisited

March 1 2003, 8:30 PM

Sometimes for one reason or another Snes9X's timing settings will be changed, normally by mistake or perhaps innocent fooling around with Snes9X's settings. This may cause the games to run in either slow motion, or turbo speed.

To fix this press the - key (between 0 and =) until the frameskip is set to Auto. If it's still running the wrong speed, then hold Shift and press either - or = until the emulated frame time is 17ms (for NTSC games) or 20ms (for PAL games).

In case you don't know how to tell wether your game is NTSC or PAL, a simple way to tell is to go into Options > Display Configuration (or press Alt + F5) and turn on the Show Frame Rate option. If at the bottom left you see a number followed by /60 then it's NTSC, if it says /50 then it's PAL.

Thanks,
DarkwaterFan
