Holly Pond — The last of the series of mayoral forums was held Thursday night at Shaw’s Restaurant in Holly Pond between Herman Nail and Carla Hart. Topics discussed ranged from development of the town to how well the current mayor and council have done their jobs.
Hart said she would be a good candidate for mayor because she would have the town’s interest in her heart. She feels like she could do a good job because of her experiences as assistant fire chief.
“With everyone working together a community is a town,” Hart said.
Nail said he has been in Holly Pond since 1976 and he can continue to bring the community forward and make it a better place to live.
“A mayor can’t do it alone so we must work with the council,” Nail said.
When asked about the biggest mistakes the current administration has made and how they could make it better, Nail responded the traffic situation at Holly Pond schools.
“It’s an accident waiting to happen,” he said.
Hart agreed with Nail added projects started need to be done in a timely manner.
“Things need to be enforced with more authority so you can move on to new ones,” Hart said.
