First off, let me say I am not one that complains often about coaches and refs. My belief is that if I'm not on the court coaching or being a ref, then I need to keep my mouth hushed. However, I went to a game Thursday night at West Point where Good Hope played Cold Springs and then West Point played Cold Springs. The first game was GH vs CS and all through the game the refs made some very bad calls, but I thought "ok.. it's tough to do their job". 2nd game, WP vs CS, same thing, horrible calls all favoring WP. The lady ref seemed to know what she was doing and she would make a call, but then the male ref would call opposite what she had just called, so she would just agree with him. There was a couple calls that I swear you could see the WP players shocked that they got the serve back. I don't know who hired the refs, but good job to whoever did because they were very partial to your team and I feel the CS girls did not have a fair chance, especially in the first game of the match. I'm mainly talking about the male ref, but it wasn't right that the female just went along with him either. Would it have made a difference in the win? Who knows, but I don't like seeing unfair matches. My intention was to voice my opinion to the male ref after the game, just to make myself feel better, but he dashed out the door immediately after the game. Do I think what I am saying now is going to make a difference? Absolutely not. It just makes me feel better to put my feeling out there and I wonder if anyone else noticed the bad calls. If the ref was going to "favor" one team, at least do it a little less noticeable! I'm off my soap box now.
