Sadly, no. I'll be working this Halloween, and there don't appear to be any good costume parties taking place in my one-horse town this year. The best I'm gonna do by way of ringing in the spookiness is watching Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments and eating pumpkin face cookies in my jammies. With a little luck I'll have the man-eating mermaid story I'm currently working on finished and ready to post on my LJ by the 31st.

I won't even have jack o'lanterns for that night. It was so warm here the ones we carved got leprosy and had to be put down last week.

ah, Bravo...

I alternated between agreeing and wanting to slap people around with that list.

I've spent the past two weeks growing a shaggy beard so i can shave the left side of my face, comb my hair on that side, put on a lab coat and go as Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde....

Now *that's* conviction. Very cool idea, Omar.

I was really happy with the way my costume last year came out. I did this Gothed-out punk rock version of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. I printed up a shirt transfer that said "Off With Their Heads" in this big blood red sort of Old English-looking font and made a belt from binder rings and the heart suit from a deck of cards. Came together pretty cool.

A big reason I liked that Bravo list is that there were some older movies on there I'd never heard of that look really, really good, and one of these days I'm going to take the time to try and track them down. "The Changeling" and "The Tennant" sound particularly creepy. I'd also like to see "The Devil's Backbone" -- assuming I can find any of these anywhere -- 'cause I'm thinking that director is the same guy who did "Pan's Labyrinth", which I loved. I cried so hard I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head, but I absolutely loved that movie.

There are so few good scary movies being made anymore. I'm just not a Rob Zombie kind of girl; to me, that kind of stuff is too disturbing to be enjoyable. I couldn't do "Wolf Creek", either; I was watching that one night and I had to turn it off, 'cause it was getting to me.

I do kinda want to go see "30 Days of Night", but I'm cautious in my expectations. And of course there's "Sweeney Todd" to look forward to, but I don't think that actually qualifies as horror.
