| That's encouraging to hear how he considers his Euro/American litters to have been so worthwhile. The Windwalker line was known to carry some cardio problems, so that was probably one reason for him to not focus too strongly on those dogs, in his overall breeding program. Health is probably the best reason for doing outcrosses. Those dogs should live longer on the average, at least theoretically.
As far as what he said about the American dogs, I think it only makes common sense that the dogs will start to revert back to a more primitive form, in terms of character, if several generations of dogs go completely untested. Unfortunately there is no 'natural selection' to inhibit the survival (breeding) of Dobes with very bad character. Ultimately, some lines of Dobes could become like some crazed, spookish Siamese cats that are afraid of their own shadows.
