I need a room in Zurich for one night when i return from Italy. Anyone have recommendations for CHEAP and clean hotels, hostels or whatever that I might be able to stay in? I'll be traveling by myself at this point, so any helpful tips about navigating from th Zurich airport to at least the hotel would be awesome.
Also, since Italy is where I'll be for most of the summer, this may be a "duh" question, but do I need to bring an electrical current converter?
What is the cheapest way to contact home while I'm away? I'm not sure how reliable the internet is where I'm going, but I know 6 weeks without talking to my boyfriend or my parents at least once will really get to me. Is international calling cards or international phone service on my cell the way to go? Or is there something else I should know about.
Any other helpful practical tips? I'm gonna be in Italy for over a month for a summer program. The last time I was in Europe was 6 years ago in undergrad, and I was pretty well schooled on what to expect when I went. This time, I'm trying to recall from the recesses of my brain what I need to know to get around and do practical errands, because I've been given very little information about what I need to bring thus far. Right now, all I can think is that I need reusable bags for my groceries and everyday purchases. Any help would be appreciated
P.S. I'll be based mostly in a small town so I won't be close to any of the major cities for the majority of my stay. And when I say small, it's in NONE of the guidebooks I've seen so far.
