Hi everyone, here it is - about Operalia competition... has somebody some kind of experience? How is atmosphere, what to expect, do they have their own people set for the awards... whatever. Thanks in advance!

After years of doing other competitions, this was the first one that treated us like the young professionals we were and not like a bunch of students. At the time, they paid for all of us to fly out there and stay the whole time, gave us per diem, put us up in a really nice hotel, provided excellent coaches and a very welcoming, helpful staff. Meeting the Domingo family was an added bonus. It's as fixed or not fixed as any other competition, but certainly worth applying. I also made some fun contacts.

And did you make some job out of it or were just funny friends? I am going this year and I don't know if I shall pass the first round but do hope to be heard and noticed. What do you think? Possible?

That did happen though at a few other competitions where I didn't win, so it certainly is possible. Since it was all paid for, it was a great experience, you have nothing to lose unless you have a paying great job you'd have to turn down.

great fully paid vacation at the very least.

my year i did get work out of it. so people are certainly there looking to hire.
