any suggestions for cheap flights to Italy on very short notice

ok so I have the chance to maybe do a fun thing IF I can get to Rome cheap enough in about 3-1/2 weeks..

Checking all my usual haunts and the airfares are very high due to high season and also less than 30 days booking..

Does anyone have any secrets or suggestions they can share for looking for a freakishly cheap deal at the absolute worst time of the year on short notice?

I know it's a tall order!!!!

Flying to Longon first

If you fly to London then there are tons of cheap airlines. Easy Jet to name just one. They are normally the cheapest.

I love cheaptickets.com

If you play around with destinations in Europe to Rome it can make the trip cheaper. But it is summer so prices will be higher than the normal deals.

GOOD LUCK!! Hope you get to Rome!

Not only do they undercut most of the other "cheapo" airlines, but their planes are all practically brand-new, AND they have a lovely little option known as "Speedy Boarding": you get to board BEFORE most of the other peeps, thus meaning you can more-likely get the seat you'd like (aisle, window, etc.) - it is SO worth the few extra Euros!!!

And yeah, I haz flown them before myself.

Good luck! We iz jellus.

www.kayak.com

Kayak searches all the other travel search sites plus the airlines. Easyjet etc may not be included so check those separately. Use the functions that allow you to check up to three days before and after. Occasionally there are big savings by flying on a certain day or time (usually the ones that no one wants but if you are on a budget you can't be choosy).

Unfortunately summer is the high season and bartains are not as plentiful as they are say in the winter months.

There are actually quite a few bargain sites that I hadn't heard of, and I consider myself a bit of a travel bargain hunting queen. Also be sure to check the comments section as there were LOTS of other ideas offered in that area.

If it doesn't pan out for this trip, I will keep it all in mind for next time!
