Response to Vallejo vs. Cheap Craft Store Acrylics

John,

I have experimented some with the pricier acrylics, but I have been painting lately with Delta Ceramcoat. It is a bit more fiddly as far as dilution so experiment on a old figure or even plastic card. I never try for complete coverage in one coat, I am generally thinning it at least 50/50 with water. Their metallics are a waste of money, the metal flakes are way too big.
As an aside, I find myself leaving the expensive Series 7 brushes in the box and using the American Painter brushes I picked up at Micheal's for $1.50 on sale. They hold a point very well, without the hooking that I have experienced with Taklon brushes in the past.
I will try to post some pictures later to show you my results with the less expensive products.

Jim
