I would love some tips on how to paint ww2 German splinter camo. I'm working on a 1/35 German paratrooper and I prefer working with acrylics although I do have lots of Humbrol. Any tips/articles would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Hi Greg.Recently I've painted a figure with splinter camo trousers.Mine was Wehrmatch splinter.Luftwaffe splinter has the patches smaller.
The only tip I can give you is,copy the pattern from real sources, pics or books.
Paint the shapes carefully with a good brush and highlight them separately.Try some light washes to shadow the camo.
You can see my example here:

Hi,
As Jaume said you must see the real thing to get an idea, about the color, shape of the different patterns, etc...
On this site you will see all different types of splintern pattern smocks used by the FJ in Normandy '44:
http://www.eagle19.freeserve.co.uk/photo1.htm
Other types :Eastern front '43, Brest '44:

On this page you will see all the details of a March 1941 dated Luftwaffe M.40 para splinter pattern step-in smock, back and front.

Thanks for the tip Jaume. Your 1/35 figures are the finest in the world in my opinion. Thanks for the links Stephan. All of the sites you gave are excellent. I will post my progress on my figure soon. Thanks again!

I've completed the basic design of the camo smock. I'm happy with this first attempt. I've attempted to shade and highlite the pants; any tips in this area would be appreciated.

Thanks Erwin. I used Vallejo for the base colour and Humbrol for the camo pattern. I will post more pics tomorrow and will give all the numbers of paints used.
