Artillary explosions

hi I was kinda wondering the other day in class how would a modeler replicate an artillary explosion in a dio? Any Ideas other than a background picture? What material would need to be used ,resin ,melted stryene, what? If you have an idea tell me.

Hot Glue and Wire

you have to use Wire and Hot Glue. You form the Wire and just use the hot glue and when the hot glue dries paint it Red,orange,Yellow.

Cotton Balls can be used for smoke.( Spray paint the bottome Greyish )
