i am not sure i can even begin to describe the level of desprecio total que siento con respeto a this so-called quadrangle (not that that will stop me from trying). right now, as written, it appears the four (Gus, Vero, EeBI, and CAMB) are sharing but a single grain of common sense between them, and it's EeBI's turn to have the grain, for all the (very little) good it's doing him. once again the show starts out with CAMB spewing spiteful NONSENSE, putting words in Gus' mouth that he never uttered yet doesn't bother to challenge in anything other than the most half-hearted way (if at all!), and presenting yet another "argument" that is full of holes now big enough to drive possibly-soon-to-be-"governor"-Ah-nold's new campaign bus through. and not that i blame Vero for not wanting to know from CAMB ever again, but why? why?!? hasn't it occurred to Vero or anyone else that it's just possible CAMB might be pregnant? it's not as if Gus and she split up months and months ago. and Gus, you twit! in spite of her prohibition, Vero handed you the best opening ever, practically wrapped up with a big ol' bow! right there was your chance to say, 'Look, amor -- I know you said you didn't want to ever know from CAMB again, but the reason I took so long with CAMB today, and the reason I've been all but AWOL since, is because I'm completely freaked: CAMB says she's pregnant and it must be my kid because we only just broke up. Even though she says she doesn't want me anywhere around, I want to try to be part of my kid's life, somehow. Let's sit down and talk about this, and figure out the best way to deal with this, because it's not going to be at all easy for any of us.' but does he do that?? NOOOOOOO! (well, at least not this episode. but the way the writers on this plot have been going, it's --sadly-- looking like a good bet that he won't in tomorrow's ep either...)
and don't even get me started on Vero and the DD investigation and all its ongoing fallout. she is completely --completely!-- irrational where that is concerned and not that she doesn't have reason to be, but it's as if the moment all this started she completely lost touch with any cop instinct and any capability for rational thought. what is wrong with the people writing these four characters?? were they out sick and have temporarily been replaced by Televisa hirelings from the Oh-so-very-sorry-oh School of Illogical and Arbritrary Novela Clichés?? augh!!!
meanwhile, someone must put a stop the Fashion Nazi who keeps putting that Tony Pony on Mom's head!! it gets worse- and less believable-looking with every episode.
(Victor: can you put a call in to your Florida alligator consortium contact? i'm sure a trip to the Argos studios for a little snack on a writer or two will be just what the gators would need to get over their pique about the sharks... and while they're there they can also take a chomp or three out of the Fashion Nazi who brought us CAMB's "grrkini" and horrible clunky jewelry, most of Vero's wardrobe, and especially Mom's Tony Pony.)
and finally: is the investigation of DD a public scandal, all over the papers with reporters hounding him whenever he shows his face, and causing all his clients to cancel their accounts because they don't trust him any more and/or are afraid of being investigated themselves for being associated with him? based on the utter lack of uproar we've heard from anyone about this (no shots of angry clients calling or writing to cancel their accounts or DD's accountants calling to complain how if this keeps up they won't be able to make their next month's bills; no reporters that i've seen anywhere; no angry phone calls to Chepe from El Presidente asking what the hell is going on that the O-Team feels it necessary to investigate DD; not even a passing mention from Influential Newspaper Bobo that i can recall!), i'm kindof thinking the answer to this is an emphatic "Not!" in which case DD is (once again) totally out of line and over the top demanding a full and public apology from Chepe. one would would have thought DD'd see what occurred to me the minute i heard him demand the public apology, and what i am pretty damn sure has also occurred to Chepe: sure, if DD truly is innocent, it will make Chepe look pretty bad and will weaken public confidence in and support for him and the O-Team, and it will also make it virtually impossible for Chepe to re-open and / or continue the investigation without some kind of incontrovertible proof that DD is sure Chepe will never be able to find. and he may even think a little further, reasoning that a public apology might end up triggering both the decline in business and the media uproar that is so far missing, which will give him added fuel against Chepe. and i'll bet this is as far as DD has bothered to look: public vindication of something that's so far been kept pretty private as the main course, with a side order of humiliation for Chepe, and Chepe and the O-Team's eventual downfall for a late-night dessert. as DD said: "Buh-bye, Chepe...!" but i think once again DD has both overthought the whole thing while completely failing to look at it from any other than his own viewpoint and that of how he believes the ignorant masses will see it, and once again underrated Chepe (as usual). what i've seen is this: forcing Chepe to make a full and public apology not only means admitting publicly that he was being investigated, something which it appears has been kept private so far, but is precisely the sort of behaviour that is going to set off all sorts of alarm bells with anyone who actually harbors real, if apparently unfounded, suspicions. no matter how much a truly innocent man might yearn for the satisfaction of having everyone and his mom know he is innocent, that satisfaction would come with a nasty price tag: actually admitting that he appeared guilty enough of something to actually warrant the investigation in the first place, in spite of his "intachable" reputation and connections to the highest levels of the police force and the government. in short, DD's demand for an apology has only served to make Chepe even more certain there's something there to be found. and i don't think DD understands that at all.
oh, yeah, one question, though: what was behind Chepe's little snort of incredulous annoyance when Marcela told him that EeBI had taken care of everything at the hospital for the wounded kidnappers already?
on the up side: we have Nancy's very cogent, common-sensical reasoning to Vero (too bad Vero doesn't appear to have taken it the least bit to heart!); Mummy María and Mom each finally coming to her senses and taking steps toward getting on with their respective lives (and was it just me, or was MM's hair distinctly more brown in tonight's episode?); and especially Chepe - Chepe - Chepe! his pointing out to Vero that Gus had absolutely NO business showing that proof to Vero, never mind to DD, before showing it to Chepe and being given the OK; his calmly inviting DD to go ahead and run snivelling to El Presidente if he wants to, but until he (Chepe) has seen this so-called proof and judged it so for himself, the investigation will continue; his off-handed, almost impatient reassurances to Influential Newspaper Bobo that he was only doing his job, and especially his sly suggestion to Marcela that they take advantage of having INB's luxurious car right there to hand. heh!
