TOKYO (UPI) -- The captain of a Japanese commercial passenger plane has
been
suspended for falling asleep while navigating, the Kyodo news agency
reported Friday.
All Nippon Airways said passengers on the flight, which took off from
Haneda
Airport for a domestic destination, were never in any danger because
the
aircraft was on autopilot.
The 50-year-old captain, who had 12,000 hours of flight time, was found
dozing by an examiner of the Japanese Transport Ministry who happened
to
enter the cockpit to check the operating procedures.
All Nippon suspended the pilot, whose identity was not released.
