I got here the long way. Just this week I received a message about Jon's website and read that the message board was closing. I was happy to see another one pointing to this one.
Here's my story -- it's a long one so don't feel obligated to read.
I am 48 years old. I had a heart attack (caused by an artery disection) when I was 36. They did a triple bypass, afterwhich I had an EF of 30.
I did quite well for several years until a couple of years ago. I started retaining water and feeling very tired. I went to my doc and I had gotten significantly worse. They gave me an ICD. That didn't help so he sent me to the U of Utah for evaluation (possibly transplant).
At UofU they decided I would do better with a Bi-V ICD so they replaced the one I already had. I didn't feel better; however my EF had gone back up to 30.
I went on disability a couple of months ago so my energy level is much better than it was when I had to go to work everyday. Plus, I don't have to feel guilty everytime I call in sick.
That's about it. I am spending more time now taking care of myself. I try to walk everyday on the treadmill. I go pretty slow and I'm lucky to last 25 minutes but at least I'm out there.
I'm looking forward to reading the posts.
Take care everyone.
