That is home from the Lake and other travels. I was only home 1 week in June and have been home 5 days in July. Leaving again on Saturday for the Olympics in Minnesota. Just had my annual exam last week and all continues to be well with my new heart. I am riding my bike about 15 miles a day right now getting ready for my event at the games. Loved the Flight Safety report posted a while ago. John, glad you are doing well since your episode. Hope everyone else is having a great summer. Here we are running in the high 90's everyday with heat index well over 100. I have a new laptop to take on my trips so I can stay in touch better. Will report on my adventure at the Olympics when I return.

Age is nothing but a number and not representative of life experience or even of wisdom. Some days I feel 18 other days I feel 100!! grin
I have a friend I've known for 20 years and she turned 70 this year.....she acts nothing like an old lady either. She lives in a small apt. on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and makes that particular trip several times a day. She may not be as quick as she once was but her attitude on life is a good one. She is also in our heart club........heart attack a few years ago.
John, just think of it this way....cake is on it's way!*grin*

TOKYO (UPI) -- The captain of a Japanese commercial passenger plane has
been
suspended for falling asleep while navigating, the Kyodo news agency
reported Friday.
All Nippon Airways said passengers on the flight, which took off from
Haneda
Airport for a domestic destination, were never in any danger because
the
aircraft was on autopilot.
The 50-year-old captain, who had 12,000 hours of flight time, was found
dozing by an examiner of the Japanese Transport Ministry who happened
to
enter the cockpit to check the operating procedures.
All Nippon suspended the pilot, whose identity was not released.

My fahter has had a what they call a tia better known as a mini stroke. It has only effected his right arm and it appears there will be a full recovery. He has to stay in the hospital for another few days because they are treating him with heparin to clear out any potential blood clots and changing his meds. He is doing good and hopefully will be home by the 4th of July.

minus a couple of gallons of blood.I -think the hospital has a sideline as a blood bank. I thought they were going to drain me dry. .
Anyhow i got the function back into my arm and hand but co-ordination is still a little shaky

Welcome back and a happy 4Th of July! John, did you not know that many vampires worked at the hospitals? What other reason could there be for them to be withdrawing such large quantities of the stuff every day.

Ex WW 2 solgers operating in transilvania during the war and bit by vampires.now they could not stake war heros so the answer was cages in the basement of the hospitals and gather extra blood from us to feed them every night. : )

The family and I are off to MD, D.C., VA this week. I hope to see the WWII Memorial.
We have family in in MD and VA.

Oh that is just yucky! (peanut butter & honey is better) LOL
Talking about the kids knowing all about these 'e-lect-tron-ics' is the truth they can change everything on you blindfolded....then it takes you 2 days just to get it back the way you like it.

I bought a new lap top at Circuit City yesterday. HP AE5730 2.8 Celeron, 256K memory, 40 gig hard drive, built in wi fi card, 15" screen, DVD player/CD/R drive. After rebate $799.00. The modem in my old laptop bit the dust a couple of weeks ago. It seemed like a good idea at the time. <G> I have no convinced my wife that it was.

I sure understand those SS limitations. I just received my $600.00 semi annual homeowners insurance (does not include the $300.00 flood insurance supplement) plus my $255.00 electric bill. O the real joys of residing in the Sun Shine State during the summer. <G>

Rick Martell was a good man and a good friend, may he rest in peace and live forever in our hearts.
We received this note today:
"Hello friends,
I am saddened to inform you all that Richard J. Martell is no longer with us. He passed away while Shirley was with him in his room at Melbourne Terrace on Tuesday, May 25th. He was suffering badly from the stroke, so I believe that God was merciful. My brother, Richard B. is on a trip overseas, so we will be waiting until his return to have the memorial service. The tentative date is Friday, June 11th. My father requested that his ashes be interned in the garden of his church, Holy Name of Jesus"

I apologize for not checking in sooner. It seems like the last 2 months I have been in a whirlwind. My checkup went well and I don't go back until the end of July when I have my annual exam. Can you believe it has almost been 2 years since my transplant? I have taken on several projects which is why I have not been at my computer as much. I just put our church's new pictorial directory in the mail and completed plans and procedures for hosting kids birthday parties at the airport. This summer we are camping as much as possible...have 6 weeks planned at Clark Hill and another week at the beach. I don't want to seem like I'm bragging about my good health now, but having the tranplant really made such a big improvement in my lifestyle. Also I am going to the Tranplant Olympics as an athelete for Team Georgia. These are held every 2 years for solid organ transplant recipients. This year it is in Minnesota. I think about you guys often and will check in more often. Hope you are all well and life is treating you great!

He was one of the lucky ones.War is hell especially when it gets so close to home.( it doesn't seem very long ago that he was a baby)

I had my second sleep study done last night, with the CPAP. I was excellent she said. I really responded well, no mouth breathing, didn't wake when she increased the pressure. I didn't have a problem sleeping with it really. I just couldn't sleep on my belly. Which is something I could get use too.
Otherwise, just trying to our head above water in this great Garden State of mine.
My father-in-law had open heart surgery last week to replace a valve in the heart. He came home Wed. or Thursday and is doing well. Gets tired but nothing more the before the surgery.
He looks better now then he did before surgery. He already has his plan of action to kill the ground hog in the backyard.
I would be more worried about the Eastern timber rattle snake, frankly, but to each is own.
Love,
Jamie

Hi guys! I hope everyone has a good weekend and spends some quality time with their loved ones.
We are both doing fine other than Jack having a few days of low BP, so he didn't feel up to par. Thankfully they don't seem to last long.
I haven't heard a word about Rick M. but think of him often, especially when there is no morning photo of some neat flower or beach scene. Has anyone else heard anything???
Sherrell, Jamie, John, Tom....how are you guys doing?

Well folks, I am on tylenol with codeine. There is still pain in my left breast, underarm and now rib cage.
I went back to my reguar doc and he wants me to see a Physical medicine guy.
Yesterday I went, in my frustration, to the ER because the pain was persistant and the drugs were not helping.
They took an x-ray and the ER doc said that I have some calcification in the left breast tissue. Why didn't the mammogram show that?
So I called my regualr doc today and he told me to mention it to my breast specialist and to still go see a physical medicine doc.
BUT- I got some results of my sleep study. I have moderate sleep disorder!!
Hypoemia. The oxygen levels drop when I sleep. I already have the second sleep study scheduled to get tested with a mask device.
Hopefully I am not disappointed with the treatment efects. The pulminologist told me that many of my health concerns could be coming from this sleep disorder and that by having that fixed my health should improve.
Thankfully I'm getting this done now at my age and not waiting till my health is beyond help.
.Spring is still confused here in NJ.6++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi,
I went into Rick's address book because I know he has many people with whom he corresponds through email. I'm his daughter, Sheila, so excuse me if you're getting this message in error.
I wanted to update you all on my father's health. He's in Holmes Regional Hospital right now after having suffered a stroke Sunday evening. Unfortunately he is not able to speak at the moment, but seems to understand what is going on around him. His right side has been affected so he is not walking yet. I'm sorry to bring you sad news, but I thought his online friends would want to hear about him. Feel free to respond to this message and I will print them out and read them to him.
Sincerely,
Sheila M. Newman

Well the mammogram went ouchy but it came our clear. THey didn't see anything with that.
My primary doctor is still insistant I go to the breast specialist (like I wouldn't be) I see her on the 14th.
Yesterday and today have been painful. My primary dr. called in a script for Tylenol with codein in it and I left a message with the specialist office that if there is a cancelation for tomorrow call me.
Tomorrow night I have my sleep study! I'm looking forward to it. It seems to be straight forward as far as figuring it out and treating it.
I know all about the CPAP and I figure who cares what it looks like if I can sleep with out loosing oxygen then it's worth it.
Best regards,
Jamie

Well folks I have 5 out of six symptoms for inflamed breast cancer.
I was with the regular doctor yesterday and we talked about it, I will have a mammogram on Tues then the results will be sent to the breast specialist and we'll see what happens.
I feel that this cancer (woman's intution) but I am not that scared I am ready to move past denial and get to acceptance.
There were two other women where I work who were just diagnosed with breast cancer this past week.
My husband is great. I am so happy that I have him. He is my best friend and we are already on the same page.

Hope all is well. One of my fellow volunteers at the museam is about to make his annual pilgramage to the golf tournament down their in
Georgia. Must be big business as he was talking about renting 5 houses this year to hold all the people coming to the tournament.Must be nice to be associated with companys with that kind of money to spend on business recreattion.

during the Masters is big business. Alot of the folks with huge estates and homes on many of the golf courses and gated communities leave town for the week and rent their homes, usually in the neighborhood of $5000 a night at least. And there are hundred on the list. Smaller homes are also rented but super expensive at well. At our airport, several of the golfers fly in and several of the National members, but mainly ours are corperate jets bringing in people for a day or two and then taking them back, leaving a new crowd for another couple of days. I have been busy at our church. We are doing a pictorial directory and I am the committee chair. Also we are celebrating our 40th anniversary and I am chairing that also. Between those 2 events and playing the organ that is taking alot of time. Also I am going to the gym 3 times a week. I am in training for the transplant olympics to be held this summer in Minnesota. I am an official member of Team GA. As a LifeLink Volunteer, I usually have a speaking engagement at least once a week and another event (health fair, information table, etc) every week or two. Plus we are camping one weekend a month. Wow I am tired just remembering what all I am up to. I lurk around the sites most days but don't take time to post. I think about you all often though. Please continue to remember me.
