I'm surprised this isn't discussed more....

When I read the post "how to prolong lucid dreams?" ( think that was it's name ) Verek posted a fine reply. He mentioned something I've been wanting to take up; voice commands. When you LD you can command "increase lucidity" and your lucidity gets improved. This stuff can also be done to your senses. You can eg. go "increase smell" or "increase hearing", and the senses are improved beyond what it normally would do. Eg I read about one that improved his hearing this way and he could clearly hear the sound of his heart.

This is one of the things I've been looking forward to do when I get my first proper LD so I'm surprised no one has mentioned it before Verek did. Have anyone of you tried it?

Verbal commands are strong

Yes I agree. When you are LD or OOBE. Your verbal commands are an extremly powerful and reliable tool.
And will usually always work.
The first I heard of this was in a OBE book (sorry cant remember which one). Their favirote verbal command was "Clarity now!". Vision and awarness will always snap right into place when using this. Sometimes it doesnt hurt to repeat the command.
Since your mind will respond to the command, you will only get more clarity. Keep on repeating it. You will probably get so much clarity that you will be able to hardly even stand it =P
Another useful approach when in LD. I know alot of people including myself have had or are having fear of heights when flying and such. commands such as "No Fear and Extreme Relaxness Now!" or "I now have an Overpowering attitude of Confidence in _____!" i.e. flying.
Doesnt hurt to yell your words. Put desire and emotion behind them. Exagerate... It's all useful tips.

The number of things you can do are unlimited.....I read about a guy who used it to induce OBEs while lucid. He would say "INCREASE LUCIDITY" and when it stabilized on a higher level he would do it again. In the end he found himself trembling and an OBE was induced. Verbal commands are good stuff!

another good point

Hi again Alasken,, me and you are jumping back and forth on this forum and answering each others post,, hehe! aint it fun?

I just wanted to add. These verbal commands can be taken into real life situations also. Such as Affirmations.
for example. On this site they give you techniques that involve to repeat in your head affermations to induce lucid dreaming while falling asleep. Like "I will remember my dreams with clarity. I will realise I am dreaming and become lucid....."
Now try these techniques with actually verbal commands out loud, or quietly to yourself. And you will be drawing on a 10% more effective and powerful tool.

Thats just more examples of the power of verbal suggestion.

p.s. alasken, of course i'm not directing this post right at you, =) in case your feeling like i'm trying to give you free lessons 'LoL'

I've been repeating that "I will remember my dreams with clarity. I will realise I am dreaming and become lucid....." stuff in my head instead of speaking it out aloud. Great tip! But it doesn't seem like many people know about this and that's a shame.....

Time

I wonder if you can yeall, like I've read, 1 min. in real life= 1 hr. in lucid dream! You could exchange hr. for day, year, I dunno. Do you think it would work?

I've never heard about this. But, no, I don't think so....your body only needs that much sleep, so I suppose you'd wake up at any rate.

perception of time

November 5 2001, 11:06 AM

As LD's OBE's are altered states of mind I think it is possible to have a LD/OBE in which in which times "behaves" different. I had this dream one night once and for me it seemed as a period of months.

And I also remember vaguely reading about someone related to a Hollybook (Bible, Quaran sp?) who had a vision/dream where he lived a complete life , when in real/fysical life the time passed as long as water was flowing out of a fallen glass/cup.
(real time=seconds vs altered state= lifetime)

So my beliefs are I don not rule that out, but untill now I have not such an conscious experience. Would be a cool thing to do though, then time would be on my side

cheers
