Just an idea... After talking with several sources and in analyzing the general ineffectiveness of reality checks in many ciruumstances, perhaps lucid dreamers should change their mindset in regards to reality checks. Instead, perhaps we should be doing "dream checks". Instead of engraining the habit of performing reality checks, perhaps we should be cultivating the thought that we are always dreaming. And then we would paralell the frequency in which we had formerly done our reality checks with "dream checks" or tests of dream power. Instead of looking at text or looking at our hands with a view to determining if we are dreaming, perhaps we should do such checks with a view to determining if we are in waking reality. I can think of a potential problem which may come into play in this regard though. If we always assume we are dreaming, then we may not sincerely believe that and take that thought for granted. The idea of lucid dreaming is to explore our dreamworlds after attainment of lucidity. But if we don't do something like frequent "dream checks" then even if we cultivate the constant idea that we are always dreaming, subconsciously we will not believe it and not attain lucidity. If we do dream checks...If we try to fly, change text, make our hands deformed or something of the like(while in the waking AND dream world), we will be engraining the idea in our subconscious mind that we want to perform and exercise our dream will, or dream empowerment to create and mold our dreamscapes. What do you think? I look forward to your comments.
