New idea

Jeem

Hey I'm pretty new to this site and Lucid dreaming, but I had an idea for inducing one. I recently started working at a supermarket on the checkouts, and when I get back I usually go to sleep about an hour after that, but on my first day I woz kinda having fun at this job, but woz pretty bored of it and woz dreading the next day coz i had to work in the morning. this meant that the whole supermarket checkout job woz stuck in my head, and sure enough when i went to sleep that night i DID have nightmares about it! not bad ones but just where ppl were making me about an hour late to get home etc. But neways, i woz thinking that if you spent enough time on this site, reading through all the posts, instructions, talking to ppl etc etc, then it will get fixed in ur mind, and u may have a dream about ur experience on this site. and due to the fact that this site is about lucid dreaming, then in the dream wen ur looking at this site u'll notice its about lucid dreaming and may become lucid. I'm going to try this and so have set this site as my homepage.

Da Jeem

We dream of events in our lives...

Hi Jeem,

Good theory, let's have a go at refining it.

The nightmares you described are the classic stress related/recent experience comebacks that your subconcious is trying to cope with. Given prolonged exposure in real life to these stresses you will no doubt have reoccuring nightmares (not necessarily bad nightmares, just awkward/annoying ones).

E.g. a 'fave' of mine is the, "Oh no I'm late again" dream that was the result of a lifestyle geared towards leaving everything to the last minute and generally being in a mad rush to get somewhere (typically school) on time.

Now, the question is, would prolonged exposure to _non-stressful_ activites also dictate your dreams? One could 'yes' in the case of new found loves and I'm sure the romantics here will fondly recall their dreams following tentative times.

However, I'm not so convinced that reading this forum will manifest in one's dreams as such. Maybe it'll take a concentrated effort to associate reading this forum to happy/tentative times in order to develop an appropriate reality check trigger.

Either way, reading this forum is no bad thing

Best of luck,
Dave.

Hey there, tanx for ur response...That does sound true, but i did a little test last night. before going to bed i spent about an hour on my playstation playing a new game called Rogue Spear, which is a shoot em up where u work in a team to rsecue hostages, kill terroists, plant bugs and cameras, and disarm bombs etc etc. now wen i went to sleep, sure enough i had a dream about this. i dreamt i woz working in a huge team of mayb 11 ppl, 2 of which i knew, one from my current school and one from an old school...both of which met through another friend, but dats a different story...neways we had to burst into this kinda hi-tech mansion and steal these gems. i wont go into too much detail about this dream, but the one thing that it had in common with the game woz the fact that we were working in a team. and working in a team iz something that really makes this game stand out from the rest. now mayb if someone who reads this post could come up with a game, just a small one, that iz rather difficult, gets u thinking, and has evrething based around lucid dreaming. even the character, wotever....but surely if u played this game, then like most games wen u get stuck u'll get stressed, but keep on at it and dont give up, then mayb, just mayb u'll have a dream about being in this game where u must concentrate on making evrething lucid or something...and then, mayb just mayb u'll go lucid. plz respond! and tanx for dat other post chow dudes

Hi Jeem,

Well, playstation games that are dream related are:

40 Winks (3D platform/exploration game set in dream environments)
Alundra (Zelda-like adventure where you frequently enter people's nightmares to rescue them)

There's another game I can't remember the title of but it's a platform/'flying on a surfboard?' game around dream worlds.

Let us know how you get on

D.

Dream games

The very best dream-based game ever (in my humble opinion) would be NiGHTS: Into Dreams on the Sega Saturn. You fly around very dreamy landscapes twirling through hoops and defeating very bizarre nightmare-esque bosses. In fact its one of my favourite games ever, full-stop.
I think I am addicted to escapism, hence my love for videogames and lucid dreams.
