Dave W Rocks!!!! Napping/Memory by association Lucid Experience
August 1 2001 at 1:30 PM
First of all Id like to thank Davemanuk for feeding me this tecqhnique yesterday in the chat, unfortunatelly the part where he explains it was cut off due to a crash in the chat and I couldnt find a link to a post where he discusses it so im hoping Dave will explain the tecqnique further.
Alright so I did a conbination of napping/Memory association that proved to be very effective, first I set my alarm for 6 hours. After I woke up I spend some time here looking at messages and reading Dream related Articles for an Hour, then I got back to sleep, I had a bit of trouble going back to sleep but managed to get it done In under 10 min, during this time and while I was awake I told myself that laredo = dreaming, and pictured In my head seing someone from laredo and recognizing dreaming (I recently moved from the city of laredo and a constant (80%) dreamsign is characters from there) when I went to sleep, the first instance of someone from laredo and I realized I was dreaming.
Chapter 2: the dream
Ok here is the dream as writen in my Dream Journal
2nd Full lucid Dream,
Im at my Internet Café Apparently Im turning off the computers, then I see Aleida (person from Laredo) pass by she waves, I immediately know im dreaming, because im not in Laredo any More, everything turns more clear, but I feel heavy and fall to the ground, Im thinking about what to do so I try looking at my hands but I cant consentrate well enough although my hands do look awfully strange, so I start spinning and it does wonders, The weight is off my body and the visuals are more lucid, theres no one around to interact so I start of by destroying things, I throw a couple of chairs at windows and then get out of the Internet Café, Im thinking about what to do and scince I feel pressured for time I immediately try flying, I manage to jump off the rail elevated 2 meters of ground but I only travel a couple of metres before falling to the ground, so next thing that comes into my mind is sex, Im tring to change the scenery but everything starts fading, Everything is fading and im desperately tring to remember how to get things clear again, but I cant. I wake up,, bam false awakening, Its really strange I can see things but I feel like I cant open my eyes, it’s the looking through my eyelids feeling that somepeople describe, I know im dreaming but the fact that my eyelids are shut is frustrating and I cant get control, then I lose it and go into a regular dream.
Chapter 3: Notes
Well im kinda dissapointed that i still didnt have as much controll as id like to, but still a great experience, now I really feel like im getting somewhere, once again thanks Dave W for the method, thanks go to everyone on this board and good luck.

Every time I have a lucid dream I go into one of those weird false-awakenings. I open my eyes and find myself on my bed. Everything is distored and my eyes feel very heavy indeed. I usually freak out a little bit and go back into normal sleep.
I think the best way of prolonging lucid dreams would definately be to utilise these 'awakenings'.
It's a shame those banners in the chat room make it crash as I would have posted the chat transcript here for others to read. Well, I'll be in there again tonight (7-9pm uk time) for discussing details on the memory association technique (hopefully i'll be able to post the transcript too).
Yeah, it was really frustrating in that false awakening, during the dream I actually though I was dreaming (seeing thru my eyelids) and awake (the little bit that i did open my eyes I could make out some stuff) at the same time, after a while I just gave up and then went back into regular sleep.
