All a bit dodgy

July 18 2002, 12:29 AM

Did anyone watch The Panel tonight? Ok, well what do you think was one of the biggest sporting stories of the week? Would I be wrong to say Buckley and the blood? I don't think so....so why didn't Stephen Quartermain mention it? Could it possibly be because of the fact that Eddie is a good mate of his? And Eddie is also a good mate of The Panel guys? Hmmmmmmm....had it not been a Collingwood player, I have a suspicion Quarters may have brought it up. AM i being too suspicious and cynical?

Strange boys....

July 18 2002, 1:21 AM

I swear, those Port boys are a strange bunch. They haven't been on a proper end of season trip for a couple of years (unless you count the fishing trip in SA.....which was pretty sad..LOL!) but this year they have gone to the other extreme:

"We are going to New Orleans and jumping on a cruise on a big ship then going to Carribean then we're going to Can Cun in Mexico and then Los Vegas."

Doesn't that sound like more than the one trip? LOL! And awwwwww at little Dom Cassisi's "big ship"...he sounds like he's 4! LOL!

YAY YAY YAY YAY! Bowen Lockwood is back in the Maggies team! YAY! It means his back isn't totally stuffed, and makes him that little bit closer to the Power side (fingers crossed!) Bowen is the unluckiest footballer ever, and the sweetest guy! AWWWWW! I'm far too excited, aren't I? Can you tell I'm a Bowen Lockwood fan?

July 20 2002, 4:42 AM

yay for all your excitedyness heheheheheheh.

Weeeelllll.... on the English side of footydom... Mell's team (Newcastle) set off yesterday to Amsterdam (where they're gonna train hard ("a gruelling nine days") and I think they might be playing some friendlies as well.. errr... not sure.

Anyhoo - they left Mell behind. Which is annoying. And according to this article, this means there's still doubt over whether Melly boy'll be fit for the start of the season (i know he's aiming for August 14th at the mo... i think...)

So I'm just REALLY annoyed that I don't have insider info on this, or that they won't tell us EXACTLY what's going on coz i NEEDDDDD to know what's gonna happen to Mell!!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for him I wouldn't even LIKE footy!!!!

I NEED INFORMATION!!!!!!!!

shuts up now hehehehe

BAD weekend of football

July 20 2002, 6:50 PM

GRRRRR not a good weekend!

Last night my Port boys were thrashed by Norwood by 117 points........but the ressies won by 2 points....so yay! (LOL....I'm gettin desperate!)

And then today my other Port boys were beaten by those poxy Kangaroos...in the worst game I have seen all year! But I wasn't totally shocked that we lost...I'm pretty happy of 2 wins from 3 away games in a row. Looking forward to next week against the Dees....

AND THE BEST PART (ONLY GOOD PART)WAS MY BOY BEING INTERVIEWED AT HALF TIME! AWWWWW I MISS HIM....CAN'T WAIT FOR 2003 AND THE RETURN OF MR WILSON!

Very sad day.....I'm shattered

August 9 2002, 3:26 PM

I am so sad....one of my fave Port boys, Bowen Lockwood, announced his retirement today..poor Bowser's on 24 but his back's fecked....he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, which makes it even sadder....

I totally agree with everything Mark Williams said:

"Port coach Mark Williams described Lockwood’s retirement as “a sad time in Port Adelaide’s history”.

“A person who came into our group with such potential and to (have to) leave the game without reaching that potential is pretty devastating, for the club and certainly for Bowen,” Williams said.

“But unfortunately his body hasn’t allowed him to continue on. I think it’s a real tragedy in footy that someone of this age has to give up one of the real things in his life that he wanted to be.

“So it is a sad time and certainly Port Adelaide wishes him all the best, and if there was any occasion in the future where his body became better, we’d certainly look at him again.

“People who don’t know Bowen look at him and see him as a bit of a casual sort of guy, but if you’re close enough to him, you know he’s passionate about football. Appearance might be one thing but it really does hurt the guy.”

Williams said Lockwood’s retirement was a reminder to young footballers that “you never know when your career is over and you better make the most of it while you get an opportunity”.

Bowen has been a huge part of the club from the very start, from the first ever training session when my best mate fell in love with him...lol...and so many of my Port memories are of Bowen....it will seriously not be the same again. He could have been a great player, he had so much talent.......I'm so sad....

And yeh, I felt like crap for ages when SOS retired (that damn point post! if he didn't hit that, his hip would be ok and he wouldda played at least this season), I totally know what you mean.

August 10 2002, 4:32 PM

Triple M rocks........I NEVER listen to them coz they usually irritate me, but a friend smsd me to tell me that Wilbur was their special guest...OMG I was excited....LOL! They totally boosted his ego, with the general opinion being that "he's a wonderful, devoted family man, perfect husband and father, coaches dream...they all love him (Mark Williams and Jack Cahill both went on about him this afternoon..YAY!), corageous player and one of the good guys of footy" which of course, I knew all the time! He was sooooooo cute...totally embarrassed by everyone's nice stuff they had to say about him! Oh, and he's like the total doting dad....he's in charge of the bub....his wife just sits and watches them! LOL soooo cute...

Ok, I'll stop raving now...footy's back on

SA footy all of fame....WHAT A JOKE!!!!

August 14 2002, 1:57 PM

Woke up this morning to read the 114 inductees into the new Hall of Fame......NO SCOTTY HODGES! WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! One of the greatest full forwards in SANFL history, the season goalkicking record holder, magarey medallist AND 7 times (8 maybe) Port premiership player..........and doesn't get in! Why???? Because he's a Port player, who hated his time at the crows (possibly because that wanker Cornes wouldn't give him a go..I usually love Graham, but not at the moment)....GRRRRRRRR! Put a crows guernsey or any non-port sanfl guernsey on the guy and he would have made it easily....GRRRRRRR

I realise u guys probably have no idea what I'm going on about, but i am very annoyed and needed to vent..again!

A YAY and A GRRRRR

August 19 2002, 12:22 PM

Ok...YAY that we won Showdown 12...our 5th consecutive Showdown win.....and YAY for Joshy Francou winning the BOG medal..his 3rd medal..YAY.....and YAY for Matty Primus playing a brilliant game...and Tredders...and all the guys....YAY YAY YAY!

Ok, now that's out of the way, I have 2 major GRRRRRR's! GRRRRRRR that Wakes is out for the season...he's been one of our best players all year, and I'm shattered that he won't play finals....BECAUSE OF MARK BICKLEY! WHAT A TOSSER HE IS! HE BETTER GET A SHITELOAD OF WEEKS! I reckon if you end someone else's season, yours should be over too...that's only fair! I used to have a huge amount of respect for Mark, but he was such a wanker yesterday, that I have totally changed my opinion....he spent the whole day trying (note, I said TRYING) to be tough....I would have laughed in his face! GRRRRRRR! THEN HE JUST ELBOWS WAKES IN THE FACE AND FRACTURES POOR DARRYL's CHEEKBONE...GRRRRRRRRRRRR I can't wait to see him at the tribunal...he'll probably get hardly anything though since he pretends to be such a nice guy.....what a load of crap that is!

Oh, my second GRRRRR is for yesterdays commentary team..would it be too much to ask for a balance or a totally neutral bunch? Obviously! Instead we get a couple of crows supporters and Gerard Healy (he's ok, coz he couldn't give a toss...) I just think its wrong that after the Burgoyne incident (and yeah, he probably is in trouble) we see it several times and then they discuss all the charging cases this year, and practically convict the guy, but after the Bickley incident, we see it twice and they say nothing except for "oh we'll be hearing more about that I guess..." OHHHHHHHH I AM NOT HAPPY!

I just re-watched the Showdown, which is why I'm all fired up again!

Oh...Winny, hottie boy was in his suit singin the song...looked v.nice!

Brett Burton sucks!

August 21 2002, 10:59 AM

Brett Burton's a great big dobber! Everyone knows that you don't go out of your way to dob at the tribunal...but not the feckin Birdman (cruddiest nickname in the AFL!)...NOOOOOO he says “I felt a fist to the face. He (Montgomery) got me a good one. Just at the last second he struck me in the face." Dobber. Even Crow loving radio guys, Cornesy and KG thought he did the wrong thing! GRRRRR! The video evidence didn't show clearly what happened...but then he has to say that doesn't he???

If we meet them in the finals (which looks likely) it's going to be an all in brawl.....there is sooooo much bitterness around at the moment...it's actually pretty funny!

The Crows want to get Chad for having a go at Bickley after the game.......which is pretty dumb, CONSIDERING Pride Of (Bickley's nickname....second cruddiest in AFL) ENDED THEIR TEAMMATES SEASON! GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR!

As you can see, I'm not happy! I didn't think it was possible to loathe the Adelaide Footy Club anymore than I already did (and I've been working on it for 11 years...LOL!) but I have officially taken it to another level! LOL!

Ohhhhhh, have the Carey's split again?

sad time

August 30 2002, 10:02 PM

Ok, so it's more a feeling of sadness. But, do you know just how surreal it feels to KNOW this weekend is our last game of the season. To KNOW tonight was the last training session for the 2002 season. To KNOW this is the last time I will see the bois in a game this season, no questions asked. It's really quite...a rather odd feeling. It's something...I don't think I've ever felt before...if I have encountered it, I'm sure I've chosen not to remember it, but man, it's hell weird and makes me feel queezy. I will so be crying on Sunday arvo. This summer will bring a lot, a lot of changes and scraey times when my heart will jump, I will be shocked and I am sure some things will occurr which will make me very sad, but I also hope there's some that elate me to know end.
I hope my bois have a great game this weekend, for themselves, for the club, and for Britts.
Today was odd.
Sunday, I have a feeling, will be even odder.
A long summer ahead, will need some support to get through it.
Go Blues!

Re: sad time

August 31 2002, 11:19 PM

Just before I ramble about my Power boys, I just want to tell Winny that I know how she feels. My Maggies have had an awful year, and I know that there will be many changes that I may not agree with over Summer, but I know that they probably have to be made....not only to improve next year, but also to help the club survive. Although I have had a wonderful year so far with the Power, I have also had the sadness of not only seeing my Magpies lose, but also watching the media and SA love it.....feck that pisses me off!

As Mark Williams said tonight, it's a lot harder to be a supporter in the bad times, than it is to be in the good, successful times, but the eventual reward when the good times come are even more wonderful for people who have stuck around through it all.

So, even though it's sad, Winny, there's a very good chance that next year will be 100% better....fingers crossed!

Ok, now I'm all sad (I've had a v. emotional day......and if u add vodka to that, it doubles! LOL!)

Okkkkkk so on to the exciting stuff......WE'RE TOP TOP TOP (I really hope we don't stop, stop, stop just yet! LOL!) and I am just sooooooooooooooooo happy! I thought we were gone in the last quarter...not that I don't have faith in the guys, but Brisbane are awesome when they get going. But, I was just soooo proud of the whole team, the way they tackled and chased all day, and just wanted to win soooo badly! And Roger James is an absolute legend! When the siren went, I was just a mess....happy, but tears in my eyes as well.......it was just brilliant! I think the tears were kinda related to a convo about my grandpa and great grandpa that Mum and I had had on the way to footy...about how much they would have loved the power, but I was just rapt! And, yeah, I know that at the end of the year, the minor premiership doesn't matter, but I was just sooooooooooooooooo proud!

And then back at the club, which was chockers.....could not move, I got all teary again when Packo said that he had NEVER played in a finals game before.....he's played over 200 games....it's amazing to think that he hasn't played 1 final!

The only thing that could have made today, and this season ,so far, better would be if Wilbur was out there....he was on the radio again before the game, and it really is pretty shattering that someone like him isn't out there.....Brayden Lyle said the same thing, that it's unfair that someone as dedicated as Wilbur misses out on being a part of our best ever season and the finals......but he'll be back next year!

Ok....as you can see, I'm way too emotional tonight......but I'm happy!

Are you say, at the end of the season, you won't still be in that same spot??? I'm sure you have the faith in there Bec.

Oh..and that guy who kicked the winner, that's the one I don't like, the one I was talking about up there who tackled Braddles so hard & thumped him down into the ground, so hard I am surpised he didn't go through it to the centre of the earth.

But not taking anything away from him, Congrats to your boys Bec.

Oh...and thanks for those....kind words.

Ohhhhh sucked in dirty rotten poxy Crows!

"Port went into the clash with Brisbane as underdogs but Williams is hoping his club has finally won the respect of the football public after its gutsy win.

“As a club we are very proud of the fact we have won the McClelland Trophy (for the team which finishes the home and away season on top),” he said.

“I think it’s a fantastic thing for us to be the first South Australian team to do that and win 18 games for the season.”

Now, just need back to back premierships to shut em up forever!

and on a very positive note - "Wakelin said he was feeling good, and was happy with how the cheek felt after some tough times last week.

Wakelin, the number one fullback in the AFL this year, had his cheekbone smashed in the Power’s win over the Crows almost two weeks ago. He had six plates inserted into his face and spent four days in hospital.

Wakelin is keen to get back into training and is aiming to play again in 2002, provided his teammates can make it far enough through the finals."

YAY Darryl might be back...luv the Wakes! Still can't believe that Shane made the Hot 8..........when EVERYONE knows Darryl's hotter! (Seriously....I have thought that since I first saw them play for the Maggies all those years ago! )

Soccer footy-ness

September 1 2002, 8:22 AM

omg i love Mell sooooo much!!

okies, this is what the newcastle coach guy says and AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW it makes me love melly even more!!! hehehhehe. awwwwwwwwwww.

"It will be a massive boost to have him playing again. We all know what Craig is like and for the last six or seven months he has been an absolute nightmare.

"On the whole he has been quiet and he has been out of the way, but you know he is on his way back because he is in your face the whole time.

"When you walk down the corridor he is in your face, when you go into the gym he is in your face and when you go on to the training pitch he is in your face. He is back and he is moaning, but we wouldn't want him any other way ."

Isn't that just SOOOO cute?? heheheh. Okies, maybe it's just me, but i LOVE THIS GUY!! (have you picked up on this?? hehehe)

The rest of the article is how Mell is just as good, if not better than Michael Owen YAYNESS!!

"He has different qualities, because Michael's major talent is scoring goals, but I think all round Craig is a better player." hehehehe, YAYNESS AGAIN-NESS!!!! hehehehehe.

So I'm pretty happy with footy life at the mo (especially following our 4-0 victory on Wednesday that secured us into the Champions League!)

But awwwwwwww, poor you guys with your footy ending

At least you have summer to look forward to... I have 3 days left of mine

OMG Garry Lyon rules!

September 5 2002, 6:34 PM

I feel like rambling...so today's topic is Garry..LOL! Based on the fact that he's just been on 5AA and he's one of my fave AFL talker/media guys.

I just love everything he has to say, and I usually agree with him....which is unusual! LOL!

Cornesy interupted Garry to do a cricket score, and Garry's like "care factor? does anyone care what the score is in that Mickey Mouse game?" (which, btw, I did....go Binger!) and then he's like "don't use up my ten minutes of air time" LOL!

Ohhhh Winny, you'll be happy...he bagged Matty Allan's manager, calling him a "confrontationalist" and he doesn't like him at all!

Ohhhh and he's not too happy with the Russell Robertson article in the Herald Sun.....thought he shouldn't have done it, and that the Dees shouldn't have let him...he said that it raised his eyebrows and made him ask "WHY THIS WEEKEND?"..he's not happy! LOL!

Ohhhh and at the end of the interview, Cornesy did another cricket update....just to annoy Garry...and Garry was like "ring me with those updates, ok?" LOL! I love Garry......I love Thursday arvo's when he's on, and I love the days that Robert Walls in on...he's a legend too! Actually, I love 5AA...my fave station (but don't tell anyone!)...got Eddie Mc coming up, plus the Power CEO Bucky (ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!! I LOVE THAT MAN! LOL!) and Wayne Jackson..BOOOO! LOL! although he and Graham NEVER get along, so it's good radio..LOL!

Ohhh and YAY 'cause Phil Smyth has FINALLY become a total Power supporter (he was one of those "I support both SA teams" people..yuck.....) and most of the 36er's boys are Power guys...YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY!

Ok......I have way too much time on my hands...LOL!

September 5 2002, 6:56 PM

I can't begin to tell you how much he is pissing me of AS I TYPE!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR he's such an up himself wanker (up until about 10 minutes ago, I loved Eddie...)......AS IF WE SHOULD HAVE TO WEAR A DIFFERENT GUERNSEY 2MORRO NITE...they are the visiting team....LOSER!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm sooooooo not happy! I'm very very very very very very angry!

OHHHHHHH and what he said about the Port history....if I EVER see him...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm so angry I can't even make sentences......

Ohhhh and he had a shot at the Blues...saying that any team who will sell out their guernsey, don't deserve to keep their guernsey....thinks that Collingwood are the only team who shouldn't have to have an alternative strip.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm annoyed!

Ohhhhh and the "maybe we can step in and help the Port Magpies"......FECK OFF!

Ohhh and Beinks kicked 6.....hmmmmm makes u wonder why he wasn't playing for THEM at the Gabba.....oh hang on, he's a Magpie, which means THEY don't like him!!!!! (Actually a fact...Crows supporters hate him....stupid morons)

But YAY for a great win! But it's over and I'm sad.

Great minds

September 8 2002, 2:23 AM

LMAO! As Trisi knows, I intended to ring up radio station, 5AA, at the end of the Lions v Crows game, just to annoy those crappy Crows supporters, who feel the need to ring up every week after Port games, and say nothing...which is sooooooooo annoying! I hate the old "Oh, I'm not a Port supporter, so I don't care about the game".........why ring? But anyway, there were heaps of them ringing up after Friday night's game....so I wanted my revenge (yes, we have a very bitter rivalry....friendly rivalry has never existed in this town...), anyway, I tried to ring, but couldn't get through....because so many of my fellow Port supporters had had the exact same idea....I have never been more proud! I was so happy!!!

Ohhhh and now he's bagging the Crows....he's a true Port boy! LOL!

Hmmmmmmm Port Maggies are after Matty Knight's from the Tiges......LOL Wilbur and Graham are having a 'Port Vs Glenelg feud'.....Wilbur told Graham to get "a real team" (unfortunately WE were beaten by Glenelg this year...twice....so poor Wilbur got himself into trouble in the argument..."Nah, don't count this year" was his comeback LOL!)

Not another retiree for 2002....I can't take this!

September 26 2002, 10:09 PM

So, I'm crying again about a Port boy retiring...I am shattered (not surprised though) that legend Meady has retired. He's been at the club since the beginning, and with the 'Pies for so many years before...it seems weird that he's not gonna play anymore (although maybe one of his Maggies mates can convince him to play on it the SANFL next year...)

Meady's press conference was sooo sad (I cried!):

“I have got as much out of my football career as I could. I have always been a Port Adelaide person, and wanted to play at Port Adelaide."

He is seriously one of the greatest guys to ever play at the club! And a legend for staying around until we entered the AFL....such a totally loyal bloke.

“I have always wanted to play in a premiership, which I did in the SANFL but unfortunately didn’t quite achieve in the AFL. Hopefully the boys can achieve that next year, and I will still feel that I have contributed to that in some way."

Absolutely! Fingers crossed, Meady! And that was 3 Premierships in the SANFL! YAY!

“"There have also been some games to remember this year including Round 4 against Carlton – where supporters where chanting my name"

'Cause you rock! And we luv ya!

"He will also be the only player to ever play 100 SANFL games with the Port Adelaide Football Club before it joined the AFL and then another 100 AFL games once it became the Power in the AFL. It means Meady’s name is on the number 33 locker twice."

YAY! Told ya's he was a legend!

“Darren has been one of the great players of our club,” Williams said. “Coming into AFL football so late and to be able to play six years of quality football at this level is an outstanding achievement."

Couldn't have said it better myself Choco!

Ok, so I'm sad. And off to email Meady!

Weekends come and gone,
And we talked up a storm,
Bout our team, bout our form,
And how it coulda been.
But when Tuesday comes around,
The talk around the town,
Is what happened, on the weekend,
In the FOOTY!
Tuesday night.... We're talking footy!!
YAY!

GO the aussies...kickin Irish bum last nite (awww poor irish boys).

Garry Lyon's pre match interview with Eddie was brilliant, was almost in tears when he was talking about the Bali situation, and being Aussie. And when they were talkin about how shook up all the boys were. And the minutes silence...soooo emotional watching it.

As for your boi Bek - I'll look after him, dun worry. He'll be in good hands.

And for the rest - wat is with O'SUllivan. Get rid of him. 1 trade. We finish last and 1 trade. As many as Geelong - riiiight! Something is just NOT right there! Makes me wonder who we are after in the pre-season...uncontracted players..hhmmmm

Fingers crossed that if every single person who has ever called themselves a Port supporter joins up and goes to games and goes back to the club and supports the club, we can save it. I can't begin to imagine how I'll feel if that doesn't happen.......this club is way too legendary to let disappear! Ok, I'm getting sad now!

The champion has decided to finish his playing days...ohhhhh man.
Thanks for the memories, leadership and EVERTYHING elese. Whatever he decides to pursure in the future, I know he will have success. Only hope we get the farewell he deserves and we would all like to see. And hope he remains with the club, in some form. For anyong to take after him for be fantastic and well worth it for the guy himself.

footy stuff

November 1 2002, 5:07 AM

yay for the magpies stuff, coz newcastle (mell's team) is called the magpies - so that's always good. but hehee, you call them the Pies for short (or at least you did in that post) whereas we call them the Mags hehehehe.

LOL@the fast show 'BLACK!' dude who goes 'oh look, there's a Magpie.' then he looked out at the audience of us (and we were at newcastle so we were pretty much all nufc supporters) and he added 'actually, there's bloody hundreds of the buggers' hehehehehehehe - classic!

anyways, GRRRRRR coz Mell's injured again And he went out to the USA to get his knee looked at again (it's the same injury as before, he'd had it surgery-ed on in May out in the US of A, and it started to hurt last week, so yeah he was flown out to have it checked) and i've not heard anything about it. Then again, he only went out on Monday... but sttiiillllllll.....

And GRRRRRR, coz I think cute newcastle boy Hughsie (who reminds me of danny, cute cricket playing boy from school) is MARRIED. pah. He's only 22!!!!!!!! (what's with these guys getting married so young?!?!?!!)

And GRRRRRR coz gorgeous blondey Smithy got sent off again last match - 2 yellow cards. There's been almost FOUR HUNDRED yellow cards issued this season according to one thing i saw...... ummm... the season only started in september!!! so either i got my facts wrong, or they need to sort it out.

but YAY coz nufc are on a bit of a winning streak (always good) and Arsenal (dad's team, who won like EVERYTHING last year and hadn't been beaten since Newcastle beat them last december, the very game when i got hooked on footy - and mell!!) have lost their last FOUR games. hehehehehe. Grrreat.

that's about all my footy news for now... back over to you!!

Something I found even more amusing was some guy from your club - Don (insert surname here please) was on 5AA last night talkin about Braddles (the whole show was about him which I thought was pretty cool - yay for South Aussies!) and totally bagging his weird opening statement and then just saying "well, that's Craig." LOL! And KG and Cornesy were like, "Yep, that's Craig." LOL! SOOOOO FUNNY!

Awwwwww he's talking about watching new guys get a game and always missing out! Awwwwwww he's a sweetie. Awwwww he's talkin about his Uni stuff - he goes to my Uni so he rocks! LOL! He's gonna be a child social worker - he's such a nice boy. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I soooo hope another club picks him up - he's a VERY VERY VERY good footballer! Better than his poxy brother! Fingers crossed he gets another chance. Poor Scotty.

Braddles was just on 5AA - he's a legend!

Mum walked in, after listening to it, and officially declared that he is her 2nd favourite footballer of all time...big statement coming from my Mum! LOL! (NO one beats Russell Ebert - so 2nds pretty good!) She's gonna send Braddles a card - she's not taking his retirement well. lol

And LMAO @ KG's daughter getting married 2morro (his family are SA celebs lol) They interviewed her and she was hilarious - while he whinged about how much it's costing him. 11 flower girls and 7 page boys - a bit excessive don't ya think?

They're gonna play the song Josh Deegan's brother wrote and played at Josh's funeral- omg how sad.

yeah I know.
I LOVE all my boys, dearly. you all know that. Just circumstances, cause some of the boys to mean that little bit more to me than some other others, mainly to what kind of interaction i have with them. I guess its a kind of thing, where, certain bois bring back dif memories, and yeah. The memories, the better they are, is kinda how i judge that. I was having trouble deciding what number to get, cos i kinda go OH i want such and such, and then id be ohhhh but i want THISSSSSS... and yeah..... but, hmmmm...... i guess, well yeah....circumstances helped me decide.

Although, Id prefer to be still confused.........

Possibly should have maybe clarified...

November 2 2002, 5:36 PM

My Top 10 wasn't necessarily based on faves - but rather my Top 10 best players - who also happen to include my faves...lol. So yeah, like I said, I need a Top 40, but it was actually based of footy ability and the way they play more than anything and didn't mean that I don't luv em all. Coz everyone has players they love that little bit more for certain reasons - such as Wilbur, who I love coz he's a hard, tough footballer, who I have watched since he played Under 19's at the Maggies, and who is one of the nicest, funniest best guys ever! So yeah, I'm pretty happy to say that he is my favourite and has been since I was about 13..awwwwwwww. LOL!

Best news I've had in soooo bloody long!

November 20 2002, 4:31 PM

I'm so happy!

Wilbur blitzes as 2003 gets underway

The Power’s 2003 campaign officially began at 8am on Wednesday morning, with a time trial at North Adelaide, and it was the inspirational Michael Wilson who led the group in club record time.

Wilson, who is on his way back from consecutive knee reconstructions in June 2001 and January 2002, ran the regular 2.2km time trial in 6min 44sec, breaking Michael Stevens’ club record.

Power coach Mark Williams said on Wednesday morning the club was hopeful Wilson, who has not played since Round 11, 2001, would have a big impact on the side this year.

“As he was this time last year, he’s moving terrifically well,” Williams said.

“All indications from all of the tests that he has had say that the graft has gone really well so all we can do is hope for the best.

“We just want to take it nice and easy so that he gets through the initial phase with the balls so that he can come back.

“He’s a top five player for us and people really forget that, and as much impact that (Byron) Pickett would make on our side, Michael Wilson would too.”

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY! Crossing fingers so tightly. And toes. And anything else humanly possible to cross!

He warned that following the ordeal, he was keen to ensure that his opponents would fear the thought of facing him out on the ground

Soccer Update

December 1 2002, 2:37 AM

Weeeeeellllll - I guess the first thing I have to mention is Mell, who's been a BadBoy again. But he was heartbroken by it (as I was watching him crying... awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... he looked so beautiful). So yeah, I've sent him a letter of support, and he's apologised loads and you just know he's gonna train hard, and come back in the next match (which'll be tomorrow unless there's some unforeseen anything meaning he doesn't play) and do BLOODY well. His passion and short temper is just part of him... and it's how he plays.... and when he has a point to prove, he plays twice as well as he does normally (and he normally plays FANTASTICALLY!!!)

Well, Newcastle play Everton tomorrow... last time the 2 teams met, I was at the match - and we gave them a hefty SIX-TWO shalacking Mell wasn't playing though, coz he was injured. I missed him lots.

What else.... ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.... I'm not too sure. There's something going on about Man U and the chairman quitting or SOMETHING.. not sure about the details...

Theirry Henry (who i love coz he did a cool ad on TV for some car.... "Va Va Voom!!"... and at one point he does this really sweet look at the camera, hehe, oh and he's a good player) well he did well in Arsenal's latest Champs League game (that's the league that Mell - and Shearer - are now banned from for a bit).

Yeah, Alan Shearer's got done too. Coz the Filthy Italians were playing dirtily, and trying to wind up the newcastle strikers. And we reckon one player had the sole job of getting Mell sent off - coz Mell was sent off 5 mins in, and 10 mins later that player (the one Mell punched) was subbed off for seeming no reason. And then another defender kept pulling Shearer and stuff, until in the end Al just elbowed him VERY hard in the back of the head. He was really lucky that the ref and/or linesman didn't see - else we'd soooo have been down to NINE men.... lol.

But the officials watched a video of it afterwards, and decided that it was bad of him, and i think he's got a 2 match ban (in the Champs League... it doesn't affect the Premiership, where they're just against other English teams).

And PAH coz Bobby, Newcastle's manager, said that Mell had "no excuse" but that Shearer "did nothing wrong"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCUUUUUUSEEE MEEEEEEE?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

but bobby generally rocks, so I'll let him off.

can't think of anything else..... back over to you with AFL news (according to Bill Bryson AFL is "loosely controled mayhem"... or something... hehehehe... made me chuckle)

WILBUR CAN'T BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN 15!

December 2 2002, 11:35 PM

I'm still feeling funny about Wilbur's number change. Michael Wilson has been 15 forever...well at least the 8 years I've been watching him play....will be so weird now that he's 21......but hopefully new number means a new start - no more feckin knee injuries. And it's kinda cute he's gone back to his number from the junior days......LMAO at Browny originally taking it from him - 2 Port legends! Speakin of which, huge YAY for Meady handing 33 over to Brett Ebert - 2 more legendary names!

LOL thanks....SOME of those opinions weren't necessary though...lol! I think Matty's got it in the bag...followed by Joshy.

Totally agree that the best since 97 sounds funny! Hmmmm and Matty missed a whole season injured, Nick was here the 1st year, Meady played half a season last year, and Kingers did his AC joint, Packo missed a season...plus Gav's always limpin or suspended...SO WHY AINT OUR RISING STAR THERE??? WHERE's WILBUR???

awwwwww bye bye the bug

December 9 2002, 4:12 PM

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww coz Danny Morton retired from all footy today...poor guy. The bug rocked - and I'm willing to say that even though he played for Norwood!!!!!!!!!!!! But ever since the accident where he almost broke his neck playin for the Power (remember that? Still the worst thing I've ever seen, and the quietest I've ever heard footy park - it was so creepy and tense) he hasn't been 100% and I'm so sad that he's had to give it up - he's one of the nicest guys ever - he goes to my Uni and he'll be the best teacher ever! He's a legend! So bye Bug!

Thing about Football

December 20 2002, 8:51 PM

I'm having an attack of the songs - lol!

I got my scarf, got my old coat
I got a footy game to go to
Footy's on, Footy's here again
Back to great me like an old friend, and

Well that's the thing about, that's what I like about
Yeh that's the thing about, the thing about football
wooooooaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'll meet a friend outside the ground, we'll argue over who's gonna win
He'll go for his team, I for mine
We'll watch them slug it out, right till the end, and
Show me the crowd & I'll take my place
I'm hungry, I'm hungry for the taste of it

Well that's the thing about, that's what I like about
Yeh that's the thing about, the thing about football
wooooooooaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

That's what football means to me
That's how I like my footy to be, ... yeah

Well that's the thing about, that's what I like about
Yeh, that's the thing about football, the thing about football
That's what i like about, yeh that's the thing about,
The thing about football
That's what I like about, yeh that's the thing about
The thing about ..

I got along (wat the?!) want to walk down
To catch a tram to my favourite ground
Use my legs, use my voice,
Make some noise, support the boys, and

That's what football means to me, that's how i like my footy to be
..yeah...

Well that's the thing about, that's what I like about
Yeh, That's the thing about, the thing about football
That's what I like, thing about football
woooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That's what I like, the thing about FOOTBALL!!!

wooo hooo! YAY! ~ now if only Lou could hear the tune .. awwww...damn

So incredibly sad

January 5 2003, 10:41 AM

I had to mention this somewhere, so I figured the footy thread was the most fitting place.

I woke up this morning to read the incredibly tragic news of Jamie Tape's death. I knew he'd had cancer, and that was awful, but even sadder is the fact that he'd just been cleared of that, and actually died of a heart attack - how can someone who is so obviously fit, bit so incredibly ill? I am still in shock that "Sticky" has died - he was one of the first footballers I truly loved (in my Tigers days) and it's just so sad...his poor wife and child...so awful.

It's just so wrong.

Welcome Alastair!

January 17 2003, 5:24 PM

Very happy about Port signing Alastair Clarkson as assistant coach today - very good move. He has been awesome at Centrals - can't believe they let him go. He was the best thing to happen to their club in a long time and FINALLY got them their premiership (after numerous tries against the Maggies - haha sucked in...sorry....) and the best thing to happen since Danny Hulme (their ex captain who committed suicide) died - he was exactly what that club needed - I cannot begin to understand why they let him go - but YAY coz now he's a Port man! (LOL I HATED him when he played - no one hassles My Wilbur and gets away with it! LOL!)

Back setback for Armstrong
Angus Morgan
afl.com.au
8:46:51 AM Sat 11 January, 2003

While his Melbourne team-mates hit the track for the first time in 2003 at Sandringham on Friday, young Steven Armstrong sat quietly sheltering from the wind and sun inside the boundary fence.

Armstrong, who was badly injured in the Bali bombings in October, has suffered a minor setback in his bid to step-up in his second season at AFL level.

According to coach Neale Daniher, the exciting 19 year-old midfielder/forward has recovered well from surgery and grafts to repair a serious wound sustained behind his right knee at the base of his hamstring.

But - “…he was thrown back in the blast, and he’s got a bruised buttock, a bruised bone. And it’s just taking a while for the bruising to go away,” Daniher said.

“We hope it will pass in the next two or three or four weeks, but it’s just slowing his preparation. That’s set him back. Otherwise, he’s fine.”

Armstrong, who was picked up at number 25 in the 2001 National Draft, played 13 games in his first full season including both of Melbourne’s finals.

Nothing such as way too tanned - they look (well my bois do) HOT when they come back or are doing pre-season and are so brown!!!!! Looks so nice with the navy blue, I absolutely love it!!!

In answer to your letter Bec, yeh Barney looks great and of course he's fitting in!!!

Our training was great, apart from Martyn injuring himself (can this NOT be the start of another session in hell) ... they had a 40 mins praccy match, 2 20 min halfs and they were going at it like ... i was going to say "a bull at a gate", but that's lame ... they were all trying so damn hard, putting their bodies on the line - it was great to see!!!

Until he started insulting Mell Luke himself is very short (the shortest guy in our class) so when he called Mell a "little gimp" I retorted in a wonderfully childish "says you!!!" kinda way! LOL.

Ahumm.... so hopefully he's not offended by that (i don't THINK he's sensitive about his height) but he was insulting my Mell so he bloody well deserved it.

February 4 2003, 11:22 AM

OMG how much do I love living in Adelaide NOW that Carey's in more trouble???? So I don't like all the Pro carey/crows media, but I love all the panic and outrage going on now! SOOOOO FUNNY! The Ten national morning news just crossed to Mark Aiston over here - who was soooo serious about it! LMAO!!!

And LMAO at no one knowing what's going on - 5 mins ago it was reported that Carey had quit...now he hasn't. And LMAO at him "not having done anything" BUT the photos being destroyed anyway...coz yeah, u really destroy NON incriminating evidence!

AND the best bit - the Crows claiming the media have a vendetta against Wayne and are "out to get him" COZ he makes it soooo hard for them to find stories on him doesn't he? If he acted like a decent human being, then maybe they couldn't write stories about him. It's NEVER the crows fault tho, or Crows player....learnt that over the past decade.

I NEVER had a problem with Carey - until he became a Crow lol!

YAY for my boys....luv Ackers!

Back home and back to school
PortAdelaideFC.com.au
7:38:26 PM Tue 4 February, 2003

Five Power players got a special trip down memory lane on Tuesday, when they visited their former school, Port Lincoln High. The school is the home of at least eight current AFL players including the Power’s Darryl Wakelin, Byron Pickett, Peter and Shaun Burgoyne and Cain Ackland.

The group of five were the star attractions when 28 Power players spent almost two hours in the school. The visit was part of the Power’s Community Training Camp in Port Lincoln which began on Tuesday and continues to Friday. Other players also visited Port Lincoln Special School and Poonindie Primary School to talk football and healthy lifestyles as a continuation of the club’s respected Community Youth Program.

But for Pickett, Wakelin and co, today was that extra bit special.

“It’s been 13 years or so since I finished up there in Year 11 to come over to Adelaide, so it was really great to get back,” Wakelin said.

“The school was jazzed up a bit more but pretty much it was still the same. I was talking to one of my old science teachers, who is still teaching there, and once you get talking to them you start remembering different people and the classes you were in and the other teachers who were around at the time.

“It triggers different memories from when you were a kid and they were some of the best days of your life so it makes it pretty special.”

Pickett still has relatives attending the school and cries of ‘Choppy, Choppy’ could be heard all day throughout the school buildings.

“I think when I was going to school there, there were about six or eight teachers who are still there so I was pretty amazed by it,” Pickett said.

“I’ve got a few little cousins and nieces and nephews at the school still and I got to see them and they looked pretty excited as well.

“It was different being there this time. Last time I was there I was one of those kids sitting down there. So it was a bit nerve-racking being up the front this time I reckon. Once I got going I was OK.”

The other part of Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln was spent training at Centenary Oval. Players did a light skills session and were joined by ten of the region’s most promising young players. There was also as a sizeable local crowd on the boundary, who enjoyed the chance to grab autographs of players normally based more than six hours drive away in Adelaide.

The squad of 40 players, and 20 coaches and officials, joined the club’s local supporter group for dinner on Tuesday evening.

The full squad does another round of school visits at four different schools on Thursday and trains again each day. Wednesday’s program includes a run around the local golf course before breakfast, then visits to aged care homes, hospitals, and an indigenous youth group. Then the afternoon holds a treat- a fishing trip in the waters of this famous fishing town.

Re: Successful school!

February 5 2003, 4:59 AM

hehehehe, awwwwwwwwwww. we never have exciting things like that happen at our school.

LOL coz nufc's arch enemy team (sunderland aka the mackems) scored 4 goals in their last match, 3 of them were own goals, and 2 of those were even scored by the same guy (Michael Procktor i think his name is).

and lol coz my mate Maff at school is a mackem so yesterday i managed to hold off.. but today after debating it for half an hour I eventually went up and was like '4 goals in one game - that's pretty good!' (the mackems are bottom of the table lol - much to our joy!!) And yeah, he wasn't very impressed by this. "Gonna get Procktor in as a striker now then??" I asked, and again he wasn't impressed by that either. lol. "ok... i'll leave you alone then..." i said. lol. Dammit.

i wanted to wind him up

Oh well - I tried!!

Awesome day!

February 9 2003, 12:00 AM

Ohhhhh I love my Port boys! Ohhhhh I love family fun day...nite whatever!

The trial was really, really good - everyone looks that little bit fitter and stronger than last year, and all of the new guys played really well. Byron Pickett is already a club legend! (BUt he IS a maggies boy...so I guess he always has been a club legend lol!)

Huge YAY for all the port boys being soooooo sweet to my little boys...one of them's got a broken knee...LMAO at every single guy going "How did u break your knee???" like they'd never heard it before...so cute...and all genuinely wanting to know how...adorable boys! And they were all so cute with littlest boy - who is total nutter...hilarious but a nutter! Not to be left out, he had an autograph book too - but felt the need to put it on the table in front of the players and start drawing..so funny! And awwwwwwwww @ wilbur chatting to him about his picture...and then asking if he could turn the page over to sign so he didn't ruin the artwork...so funny! And the response he got was soooo cute...Jack just kinda looked at him like "oh if u must!" and Wilbur and I cracked up. And awwwwwwwwwwwwww @ Wilbur when I asked him to be in a pic with the boys..and Kingers next to him...he's dragging them under his table, and lifting them over...so funny....and awwwwwwwww coz Kingers did it too - very lovely boys! And LMAO @ Jack's "language"...he rabbits on, and babbles....and all the boys were like WHAT THE??? but all thought he was adorable - coz he is - and Tobes was barking at him for some reason...so funny! Weird, but funny. And morgs was just looking at me, like "this kid is majorly weird - but so cute!" And awwwwwww @ Schoey chatting to Jack...he's a sweet guy. Felt so sorry for him, coz he got his nose broken in the game and it looked painful - and he was telling me how sore it was....poor bugger. And awwwwww @ Stuey lifting Tom onto the table to have a photo - and Tom facing him instead of me and not grasping the whole TURN AROUND thing....we were both like "who knew simple instructions were so hard?" - but he rocks with kids, he's going to be the best teacher ever. And ohhhh luv his eye brow ring...very cute! And LMAO @ him soooo not wanting to sign girls stomachs...but not knowing how to say no...he looked so uncomfortable! And LMAO @ Morgs and Tobes together as usual....ohhhhhh it gives me so much more room for teasing! LOL! And Matty and Gav were awesome - sooo many people wanting their time, and them being late getting to the presentation because they HAD to sign everyone's stuff...luv them. Matty is an awesome captain.

And I was sooo happy when Wilbur got a massive cheer when getting his guernsey, that boy seriously is a club legend!

footy

February 16 2003, 4:01 AM

i can't believe you aussie god damn thrased us in soccer too!! 3-1!! What the HELL is that????? We're meant to be GOOOOOOD at footy!!! But noooooooooooo, you go and be better in your little aussie way. DAMN YOU ALL!!! (hehe, ok, i'm not bitter really! LOL! Just thought i'd yell at you about it anyways, hehehe).

But yay coz liddle JJ (Jermaine Jenas who's only 19 and looks innocent as hell and plays for Newcastle) was apparently reeeaaalllly good during the game - i think he even got man of the match. so yeah, good stuff for our widdle boy!! He impressed more than Dyer did, from what I've read. And dyer also plays for us and is about 24 ish i think... and he's awesome. But JJ's sooooo talented. Yay for him!!

And yay for Arsenal beating Man U today so they're now out of the FA cup! WOOHOO!!! I don't mind if Arsenal win the cup just as long as Man U don't. HAH. Lets see how their glory hunting scumbase of supporters like THAT (haha, my friend Luke saw something yesterday where I'd written about how Man U are supported by glory hunting scum and he was like 'umm..whats that?' and i was like, ahh yes.. you support them don't you.. i probbably shouldn't have shown you this then... heheh. But then we decided he wasn't a glory hunter (He supports them because his dad does apparently) so he was discounted. lol.

And aww coz this guy Phil was really interested when I said something about being into footy (he was quite surprised lol) and then he was like 'who do you support... how come you support them?' And then he said 'why don't you support aston villa?' (which is who he supports) and i was like 'ummmmmmm... well.... ummmmmm... i dunno... why do you support support them?' and he goes 'when i was little i thought their strip was pretty' LOL!!!!! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

hehe

February 25 2003, 5:17 AM

yups, "L" was coz... well... I was typing quickers incase mr teacher person came up and i had to swap thingys - and well, it saved me 2 whole letters LOL.

and then mr teacher person DID come up, and watched Hay (sitting next to moi) playing online pool... LOL. so I figured 'right, i can't be bothered with this' so posted while he was standing right behind me anyways.

this was mr stand in teacher person... not mr actual teacher person... coz we don't see him much (he's aka Jethro).
