C.I.D Officer and his wife killed by gunmen in their home on 30/10/09 at 9:30 P.M

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF MR&MRS FREDRICK KARARI KARUGU.
It is with great shock we Gathiga community in U.K have received the report of merciless killing of our beloved brother and sister, a couple who were committed in serving the Church and the community. This family is known to be peaceful and hard working and very much involved in community development. There is no right whatsoever for anybody to take away other person's life and therefore what was done to Mr&Mrs Karari was a very evil act of senseless criminals; a selfish people who embrace firearms, money and opportunities/positions more than they embrace life. We condemn this act of evil and we send a message to these people who have repeatedly been targeting innocent and hard working citizens put the weapons down! there is more you can do in live than killing people; using a gun on a defenseless person proves how coward you are!.

Gathiga families have suffered several deaths and fatal injuries through the hand of gunmen and in all episode robbery or stealing has not been the motive. The people who have died at the hand of gunmen is life cut-short and a great loss and a set back to the community, village and Kenya in general. We call upon the government to step up security in our villages.

We take this opportunity to offer our sympathy to the three children of the late Mr&Mrs Karari, extended family and relatives. May the good Lord give you peace and strengthen your heart, comfort and give you courage and hope through Christ Jesus.

We pray that the people of Kihingo and Gathiga will join their hearts together and more than before seek God as it is only in him we can take refuge. There are individuals who have accepted to be used to jeopardize the development of our village by killing and maiming the able-bodied but the evil-doers must be told that Gathiga and kihingo people are not going to be intimidated.

In conclusion we say to Karari's family and people of Kihingo the words that God said to Joshua after the death of Moses. Be strong and very courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9.

As a person who comes from neighbouring village (Mwimuto), i add my voice in condemnation of this thugs...we are not going to be intimidated anymore by this gangstars...let us rise up and call upon the Almighty God to intervene on our behalf...

We know we are defenceless infront of this cowards but with God on our side we are well Armed to face them..."Woe to you who kill innocent and leave the children as orphans..."

God will not give this thugs a moment of rest..Lord God, give strength to this children..

Those guys are not "thugs" - they are our brothers (and sometimes sisters). They did not come from nairobi , mombasa or even limuru in the next ridge! These are guys in gachie, mwimuto and gathiga and sure as hell some of the people know or suspect who is responsible - but if they talk, they will be past tense too? Its a culture cultivated in the above areas for decades! Todays granpas were yesterdays KBS bus-jackers till the bus company pulled out of the route-how do you expect them to grass on their grandsons? Being a CID officer in the area is not only looked down upon but also suicidal. in short everyone is a criminal in kabete!
