I have seen your response concerning my ping on the arming of clans in Eldoret, herewith,http://www.network54.com/Forum/204096/thread/1254889714/last-1254915834/Is+this+for+real-.

You are right I was biased. All I could see as I read that article was the killings after the last elections and we know who the perpetrators and the victims were.

So I accept your criticism of me and I recieve the insults too. Now can we discuss what to do about it???

Serowa,
I begin by apologising to you because i think its in order. I am sorry for i lost control.
Also, i point out to you that as a Kalenjin, i do not agree with the common notion that the violence was planned. I have many reasons for saying that, but i know that this may be a recipe for baseless arguments. I happen to hold the view that the violence was a direct result of a rigged election. I say so because i am from Eldoret [although I am now based in the West Midlands].
Well, there is that old issue of land allocation....though i also think that there are many kikuyus who genuinely bought their land there. So please understand that i am not one of those anti-kikuyu folks. So lets be objective here....As i am sensitive to your people, be the same to mine, and we can go somewhere.
Back to the issue...........
It is sad to see that the people of Rift Valley are arming themselves with a view to fighting in 2012. That is if these media reports are accurate.
Here is what i think should happen:
1) The government must lead initiatives to foster harmony and peace within the community. Bring people tohether into small group that represent the wider community. Let them meet and build a sense of dependency amongst one another.
2) The government should stop the influx of arms into the country from Somalia, Uganda or Sudan.
3) Civil education must be rolled out accross the board to the lower echelons of the soceity. This will sensitise the people about the need for community, application of law and respect for one another.
4) Significantly, the government to promote and allow spread of the gospel of Jesus christ to the masses. Unless the society puts God first, we are doomed as a nation. Kenya used to be God-fearing. Now we think and behave in ways that do not honour the maker!!! We are rapidly becoming like the west. God have mecry!!

I could go on and on, but let me invite you to give your views and we can go from there.

Be blessed!

NB: I put the Kale in Kalefonication...!

I think the most important thing that people need to understand is that everyone loses when there is violence. It is not only Kikuyus or Kalenjins but the whole nation.

The government needs to promote ideas of how similar we are than our differences. If you are in the West they don't care whether you are a Kale or a Kikuyu all they see is an African whom they consider inferior. This can be done in mandated group therapy sessions of those convicted of harrasing their neighbour based on tribe.

Yes, the church must do it's job of promoting love through the gospel. Unfortunately the church has also been tribalised and is no longer unifying the nation. The gospel must come alive and encourage service to one another as opposed the individualistic model found in the West.

We must embrace the words of our anthem; "justice be our shield and defender. May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty" and plenty will be found within our borders.

This will mean that as long as land was acquired legally the owners should be allowed to harvest from their investment without threat of being harmed. Everybody should be allowed and afforded security to live wherever they chose in the country as long as they are citizens of Kenya.

The government must ensure that those involved in breaking of the law are prosected without fear or favour. This starts with the politicians who are the fat cows in these unholy wars.
