Adobe reader!

Strictly speaking, there is no document format called adobe reader. What you have is most likely a document in portable document format(pdf).Adobe reader is an application that converts documents such as word documents or even photographs into a pdf format.Pdf documents are popular because they are multi platform and are quite easy to attach for example to an email.Adobe reader also enables you to read pdf documents.
You mention that you want to edit the document you have. This might be abit tricky because one of the advantages of pdf documents is that they can not be edited. To do any editing, you have to get hold of the original document, which you can then convert into pdf after editing.
Let me point out that while Adobe reader is perhaps the most popular application for manipulating pdf documents, its certainly not the only one.If you run a google search for pdf applications. You should get quite a few,and some of them are a no strings attached free downloads.
Adobe reader is available on the net as a free download too.(atleast a basic non commercial but fully functional version of it).The most current version is ADobe reader 9.Just run a google search and you will end up on the download page.
This should all be quite straight forward but if you hit any walls, drop me an email.I Would be happy to guide you through it on phone.I hope you find this helpful.
