On the issue of paying higher tax returns(it doesn't matter which industry you are working in) , you will need to fill self assement forms every financial year and give them to inland revenue if you do more than one job and wants to be deducted correct amount of tax. If you dont file any returns with inland revenue, they wont tell you that you are paying higher taxes and due for a tax credit.

You will be suprised how much tax credit you will get. Contact inland revenue if in doubt and ask how far back you can do self assesment (it used to be five years ) if you have never done a self assesment.
