KADHIS COURTS -PLEASE LET US GET THE FACTS RIGHT

I agree the issue is about separation of religion and state. This however, is a huge challenge considering that Kenya is still a young state and separation may not be as easy as we would imagine. After all history has its lessons.
If you look at the history of European countries such as England , France , Netherlands , Spain , and Germany etc there was a lot of acrimony between Protestants and Catholics.
During the reign of King Henry VIII of England, people were forced to pledge allegiance to the Church of England and not the Catholic church with many getting beheaded and burnt alive. During Mary's time, his daughter, Protestants were persecuted and people forced to be catholic!
Charles IX of France with his mother Catherine de Medici orchestrated the massacre of Protestants in France and the Pope, Gregory XIII of Rome celebrated and even made a special commemorative medal in honor of the occasion same to King Philip II of Spain .
In other words, it took centuries for the older societies to reconcile themselves with the fact that there has to be a separation of religion and state.
Why do we want to put ourselves in the same predicament? Are we mature enough to separate the two? What if we got a Muslim president who then declares that all shall have to go to Khadhi courts, what are we gonna do?- go back to the streets for a third or is it fourth liberation?
I think the best option is to leave the kadhi courts out of the constitution once and for all coz we will never know what would happen afterwards. I do not want to pre-empt anything but we all know that we have fanatics both Christian and Muslim!
