Two letters of 10th March 1982 to The Editor, 'Daily Nation', that clearly show that exam cheating in Kenya started a long time ago... (see both letters below)
Source of both letters: Page 7 of Kenya's Daily Nation newspaper of Wednesday, 10th March 1982
Since both letters were published on 10th March 1982, they refer to the Kenyan national examinations of 1981, a full 28 years ago...
This obviously means that those now trying to 'police' massive & troubling irregularities in the Kenyan education system/Kenyan national examinations, were themselves beneficiaries of a flawed system back then... When you set out a 'thief' to catch another 'thief', two things are possible: the 'thief' that has been sent will either apprehend the 'thief' on the run (as illustrated in the Leonardo di Caprio movie 'Catch me if you can', based on a true story), or both 'thiefs' will enter into a devious pact to share in whatever spoils that there are to be shared... the latter clearly, is what is happening in Kenya today
All of us in this country ought to be ashamed of ourselves...
KACE means Kenya Advanced Cetificate of Education, the now defunct A-Level examining system (Form 6)
KCE means Kenya Certificate of Education, the now defunct O-Level examining system that was replaced by the present Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)
The Kenya Junior Secondary Examinations (KJSE), are also now defunct, and were a Form 2 level examining system back then
In those days there were two separate education ministries... the Ministry of Basic Education, then headed by immediate former Mathioya MP Hon. JJ Kamotho, and the Ministry of Higher Education, then headed by the late Prof. Jonathan Ngeno
