AS WE ASK,WE SHOULD LEARN TO LISTEN TO GOD AS WELL.

As all boys and girls from five to twelve are I loved to play
so much with friends sometimes till late afternoon during school holidays. When I got home my mom would say each one will eat where he has been. She would repeat this but eventually could get me to SIT down and more importantly LISTEN.Listning to her made to learn and discover life is not made of playing only it involves more than that. I didn't learn this in a day or two,it was a process.The key thing is you cannot learn without listening. When we were growing up it was very difficult to tune radios. It was very annoying when you miss what you really wanted to hear ''tune in'' which brings me to listen to my mom sometimes involved beating,raised voice and simple punishments.
How do we listen to God? By giving him time to speak aswell and getting the right frequency,the best signal that we tune in. How does that happen? We are all very different so our stillness-listening-response-responsivenness will be different but we do have to empty ourselves for God to get through-that is to be STILL,Psalms 46 verse 10. Remember the song says ''O Lord hear my prayer,When I call answer me,Come and LISTEN to me''. Do we really give God time to answer us after prayer ? Mostly we become impatient,fed up of waiting or keep asking the same thing.
So how do we tune in to God and where ?The sting on the tail with listening is that it involves action-we have to do something and that's the challenge but the good thing is we don't have to do it alone. Based on Psalm 29 Michael Jagessar prayed;
Come and listen,come into God's presence with humility and wonder.
Listen to the voice that calms nighty waters,that makes your heart throb,
That gives strength to nations,and blesses them with peace.
Sing to God all the world! Glory to the God of life !
We all know and long to ask, we realise that we need to listen and wait aswell not forgetting to give thanks and to worship our God for he's worthy to be praised in all places at all times. AMEN
