RE: FEAR GOD

Reading through your article on why fear God I will try to respond letting you know that Religion is the surest way to hell. Religion is about works rather than being. Through this article I address Faith issues and not religion.

Fear of God does not imply believers are to be scared of God but reverence, veneration and awe, Hatred of evil and obedience to God.

Your article seems to zero in on the bible and is the same scepticism that the bible has faced for years; the question is which will stand the test of time? Scepticism ummh

Your Idea of fear is founded on lack of knowledge about Christian faith. Show me where love has no responsibility and I will show you the god of your presuppositions.

Your idea of killed in his name is laughable; you want to lead a revolution as a sceptic rebel? Sceptics will not trust anything. It has no loyalty to anything. And the fact that you doubt everything really gets in your way when you want to denounce anything. For all denunciation implies a moral doctrine of some kind; and the modern revolutionist doubts not only the institution he denounces, but the doctrine by which he denounces it. God is above our moral law and judgement.

According to you good and evil exist in every one of us, going on and telling people to think but how did you get to this two categories? How do I know what is good or evil? I bet you will say the same way you differentiate green from yellow. Are you talking about manifestation of the two categories? Whenever a question of evil is asked it is about a person concerning a person. God did not create evil he made it possible.

Your philosophy is devoid and incoherent, if someone decided to manifest goodness by eating infants from poor and densely populated area to save humanity from scarce resources which category would fit him. Good, left to best definition of good is elusive and illusory. Your ideology cannot differentiate whose goodness between Nazi scientist working in concentration camps and those working in Hospitals should prevail.

When you consider humanity with all its frailties, limitations and inability to explain its own origin or meaning how do we answer the following questions: Why is there something rather than nothing? This question was asked by Aristotle and Leibniz alike albeit with differing answers. But it is an historic concern. Why is there conscious, intelligent life on this planet, and is there any meaning to this life? If there is meaning, what kind of meaning and how is it found?

Does human history lead anywhere, or is it all in vain since death is merely the end? How do you come to understand good and evil, right and wrong without a transcendent signifier? If these concepts are merely social constructions, or human opinions, whose opinion does one trust in determining what is good or bad, right or wrong? If you are content within atheism, what circumstances would serve to make you open to other answers

If we reject the idea of God we are left with crisis of meaning, more atheists like Jean Paul Sartre, or Friedrich Nietzsche, or Michel Foucault, These three philosophers embraced atheism but recognized that in the absence of God, there was no transcendent meaning beyond ones own self-interests, pleasures, or tastes. The crisis of atheistic meaninglessness is depicted in Sartres book Nausea. Without God, there is a crisis of meaning, and these three thinkers, among others, show us a world of just stuff, thrown out into space and time, going nowhere, meaning nothing is lacking.

When people embrace your kind of thinking, historical results can be horrific as in the regimes of Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot who saw Faith as the problem and worked to eradicate it? Why would we seek the alleviation of suffering without objective morality grounded in a God of justice?

If there is no God, we lose the very standard by which we critique faith and followers, so whose opinion matters most? Whose voice will be heard? Whose tastes or preferences will be honoured? In the long run, human tastes and opinions have no more weight than we give them, and who are we to give them meaning anyway? Who is to say that lying, or cheating or adultery or child molestation are wrong really wrong? Where do those standards come from?

Sure, our societies might make these things illegal and impose penalties or consequences for things that are not socially acceptable, but human cultures have at various times legally or socially disapproved of everything from believing in God to believing the world revolves around the sun; from slavery, to interracial marriage, from polygamy to monogamy. Human taste, opinion law and culture are hardly dependable arbiters of Truth.

This is what scepticism leads to . . . as a politician, he will cry out that war is a waste of life, and then, as a philosopher, that all life is waste of time. A Russian pessimist will denounce a policeman for killing a peasant, and then prove by the highest philosophical principles that the peasant ought to have killed himself. . . . The man of this school goes first to a political meeting, where he complains that savages are treated as if they were beasts; then he takes his hat and umbrella and goes on to a scientific meeting, where he proves that they practically are beasts.

In short, the modern revolutionist, being an infinite sceptic, is always engaged in undermining his own mines. In his book on politics he attacks men for trampling on morality; in his book on ethics he attacks morality for trampling on men. Therefore the modern man in revolt has become practically useless for all purposes of revolt. By rebelling against everything

Rebellion against god is not something new neither will it come with new tools only with twisted speeches and doubt mongering. The worst of it all is human who want to purge the idea of God end up creating god in their own imagination.

You're living in a cocoon my friend and that's the reason why most Africans cannot advance from old thinking. We have hunger in the country!! Let's pray for God to provide!! Bad things are happening to our country, yes, let's all bow... Wake up and smell the bacon. As they say, actions speak louder than words!
