If rugby league in the country was not in the good healthy state that it is today, than Mr Juffa and Krammer and the lot would not even have the guts to try this take over bid.

5 years ago the game was going nowhere, the SP Cup had died, sponsors had vanished, and the Kumuls hardly got any international competition even though the Bob Bennett coached side hade made it to the quarter finals a few years earlier.

So the game was officially dead. No one wanted the job at that time to run the show, the likes of Juffa and Krammer were too scared to put their hands up.

The only person who put his hands up and who saved PNGRL back then was Sir Bob Sinclair, the former owner of the Lae bombers.

He along with help of others like the former Gurias coach Jeff Wade went around begging for money from corporate sponsors, PNG Govt, AUS Aid and others to revive the league to where it is now.

They revived the SP Cup with good sponsorship from SP Brewery and introduced the franchising system for ownership for the teams.

The rest as they say is history.

The kumuls/presidents 13 now have an annual hit out to look out for. Theres the annual match against the Aussie PMs 13, the origin concept and also just this year we saw the Hardware Haus cup introduced between PNG and Fiji. Then theres the Pacific cup and at long last were in the Four Nations.

So at long last PNG Rugby league is now a sought after successful brand. Sponsors are lining up and its only going to get better.

And now all those people who didnt want to have anything to do with the league all those years ago are queuing to take a bite at the pie. They want a bit of recognition for what was built by someone else.

The end result will be; the game will again suffer, sponsors will flee and we will all be back at square one, just waiting again for a savior to come along.

So I say those who want to take the glory now, should all sod off!!! Period.
