TO the Annons, Doggy, Meraveka, ONetox and Strokolop, I have followed this debate with interest and it would seem here that you all are talking about the development of RUgby and League, but from your different points of thought. Common denominator is: Motu-Koitabuans and the codes of rugby. The latest input is interesting, and I quote: "its hard to draw quality Motuan players to Union!" THis is true but discussions with Terence KEdea and JAck Kariko the other day answered this. When quized on this issue, both said that this is the main reason behind the formation during the off-season of the Motuans Rugby Club. Both founders want to use this Club to CREATE quality Motu-Koitabuan players - not to have it made up of recycled Leaguees. You will notice that when the Motuans RFUC defeated POM Brothers and draw Defence, it DID NOT HAVE the quality Motuan players Annon is refering to! So quality players can be made and created - not inherited!
On the proposed MOtu-Koitabuan team in the Bemobile Cup, good concept but wont work. You only have to look at the Central LAgatois of 1997-98. It couldnt be sustained and the Central players (including a host of Motu-Koitabuans) couldnt match it when they played outside Port Moresby. Nearly all were intimidated. In this decade, it will be very hard for Motu-Koitabuan players to make it into the Kumuls. On the same note, the owners of this proposed team would be VERY STUPID not to include HIghlands players in this team - for the aggression factor! Motu-Koitabuan players just dont have this! Let the Motu-Koitabuans be satisfied with performances of Keith Peters, David Mead, Bond, and others in the Kumuls.
On Motuans in Rugby: new horizon and it would be interested to see how they perform. But a Motu-Koitabuan team at Bava PArk would most certainly make waves and would be an icing on the cake to that eye-sore that runs on weekly onto PRL calling itself the HB Hawks! Lets not forget that all Motu-Koitabuans who made it into the Kumuls went via Hanuabada Hawks RLC. Wonder how many would make it into the pukpuks via the proposed Motuans RFUC in the coming years?
