Hi Guys, just wanted to take this opportunity 2 say a few words regarding yesterdays game. - CONGRATULATIONS to Adrian Lams side for becoming victors over the bigger and heavier opponents. I watched on tv and you guys showed alot of guts.
The highlight was how the team played as a unit, the kumuls were more contructive in attack, by flowing the outside to their backs, and hurting the Tongans on the fringes(wings).
Congrats to Menzie Yere(Kumuls centre) for an outstanding game, you deserved the Man-of-the-Match award. (2 tries)
And also to David Mead (fullback, 2 tries also)- Go Kumuls, Go..........
Yep, i like my Tongan DEEP FRIED!, but BOILED in COCONUT MILK WITH HIGHLANDS KAU-KAU, AND LAE TARO, TAPIOK & BANANA, WITH KUMU! (cooked on HOT vocanic stones) - dinner is served!
That performance over the weekend by Kumuls should shut those Critics up who were saying Adrian Lam shouldnt be coach and that the team was picked one-sided. Thats the best Kumuls side kicked since the 80's and early 90's. Even better without Gene and Aizue who are overrated players with nothing to offer. Dion Aiye was outstanding. Jason Chan was clearly second best behind Menzie Yere. Both hookers played alike and were dangerous. I was always critical of keith peters but he played outstandingly well. his defence was spot on however his kicking game needs to be slightly improved. Well done Kumuls and Adrian Lam.
Gene is a an over-rated player, in his form days he was destructive but now like in the world cup, he is so proud and costed the kumuls a place in the finals of the world cup.
Neville Costigan and Paul Aiton could have added more fire power but unfortunately they were not available. they are both very passionate players who give 100% and wouldl have been great to see them run.
Despite their absence, the others did exceptionally well.
I have watched the local PNG lads being defeated up in Cairns and in Samoa so the time of boasting our local lads is over. Its great for the game that other potential players overseas are also given the opportunity as they are exposed to better coaching and training facilities.
