Alas, My Love...

Alas, my Love
23 Sept, 2005
I'n not sure if I posted this yet.
In the midnite of mine ignorance
In youthful exuberance
When I’s foolish to be smitten
By the beauty of your countenance
Only to end up years later, heart broken
To you alone I’s so sure I’d read
Like a wide open children’s book
As my tongue hung out to plead
Which made me all the more timid
Afraid you’d laugh at my gawky scrawny looks
But you only greeted me as a platonic friend
Then you upped and married a good man
Leaving me feeling guilty, my faith shaken
For loving you in secret, in silence
I still held out forlorn hope for you to be mine
not knowing what else to do
That everything would turn out fine
And that a moment with me would steal you
To say those magic words “I love you”
But, Alas, woe unto me
One day you got called away
To the great unknown in the sky
And left me oh so lonely
And leaving me asking the big question, Why?
Was my love for you "a shame and a sin"?………..
