Mangi-nambis

Half moon shines down gold
Under its shower of light, behold
A circle, children holding hands
Everyone amongst friends
It’s the time of the Irang
Kangal, purpur and kambang
Adorn the sleek and youthful
some just back from school

They jump and sway
seed rattles play
They laugh, and sing
Shouts of joy
Cries of delight
Round and round circles the ring

On towards midnight
Worries take flight
off out of sight.
Some lovers pair
Yet the ring grows bigger
more children join in the fun

I'm just another spectator
Drinking in the wine
Of innocent merriment
Commenting now and then
To nobody in particular
the exuberance of the dancers…

Oii Irang-oii! Selelei Shoot!!

The Waipa done by the mountain folk is similar, except that that they probably do not use any musical instruments, and chant or yodel, and happens anytime of day?...maybe some Mangi-mountain can elaborate.

Cheers
