Silently Whistling.....

On behalf and for
the human race
Even their faces
Covered with ashes
Lone voices
in the wilderness
softly with tenderness
confess
our trespasses
Silent prayers
for deliverance
from blind pursuit
of hedonistic decadence

As we race
toward certain doom
In this corner
of the cosmic room

Craving perverted power
over another
We sow seeds
and reap harvests of disaster

We surround ourselves
with material vanities…
and to them become slaves
We cling on
for dear life
to iniquities
Of a million straw crutches
hiding hopelessly behind
a million superfluous fig leafs
ashamed
of our natural simple nakedness

but still the voice
of the innocent little boy
we’ve killed him so many times before
yet whose voice
echoes
for ever
haunts us,
“we are all still stark naked!”

…but is it something to ashamed of,
our humble nakedness,
if it can’t be helped for ever,
and to redirect our pursuits,
towards living in peace together?
