Steel (Still) Small Voice
A million promises to my loving angels Im unable to keep.
Consequent guilt from empty pledges over my soul sweeps.
Innocent eyes like razor-sharp knives they thrust deep.
Excruciating Pain of sorts this injured heart weeps!
Ten million reasons to stay down and not face one more day
Debilitating fears sapping up precious energy and motivation
But suddenly, a loving echo from deep within get up, do not stray!
Be gone, Confusion, hello, Inspiration!
One Steel Small Voice it cuts deeper!
A piercing ray of hope through layers of incessant darkness
Lighting up my hopeless world of pain - what Liberating whisper!
O Talk, yes talk to me Lord Jesus, Your Highness!

The inspiration for the above came from 1 Kings 19:12
The LORD said, Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by. Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, What are you doing here, Elijah?
Sometimes we just have to shut out the loud (painfully real but negative) voices from within and without to hear God speak powerfully in the stillness.
The prophet did and I think I did too that wonderful day. Im still learning to do that today. I hope that there is a message somewhere in the foregoing for the reader !
