I have nothing against those who feel the need to take a specimen for science. I personally would not be able to do it however. I would rather study them alive. I do understand the need for a specimen or specimens to officially establish the species existence however, and I support someone eventually doing just that. It is a necessary evil IMHO. This has been done all throughout history with other animals and these animals should not and will not be treated any differently than any other. The only other alternative is the capture of a live specimen and I don't see that happening.
I am not a person who even hunts deer or other animals for food, although I used to tag along with others who did and I know a little about it. What I've learned has been very helpful in this field however, but as far as hunting for food, I'll leave that to those who have the need to do it for feeding their families.
Killing for sport to me is wrong, but in the case of killing to protect loved ones or myself, I would not hesitate, nor would I feel guilty afterwards.
I do not in the least believe these creatures to be anything more than animals, thus the reason I call them creatures. IMO they are apes of some sort, albeit extremely smart ones.
