I didn't hear it roar. It wasn't on the ground when it came over my house. It was just a funnel cloud rotating around in the sky, and it was down the road where it touched down about 8 miles or so. But I did hear an odd wind sound like rushing air as the cloud went over the house.
The whole thing was eerie to begin with because the air turned greenish/yellow and perfectly still and then the clouds started to roll in suddenly and it got dark really fast. Anyone who's ever been near a tornado knows what I mean when I say that.
I did get some photos and a little video today. Lots of people trying to see and it was on the main highway where there was most damage, so it was hard to get very much. Looked like most of it was just forest that got flattened and broken and it missed most of the homes. A few of them were damaged but spared that I saw, but I didn't get to see many of them because I didn't venture down any of the lanes. It did cut a large swath down the highway about a mile long or maybe more.
Interesting to say the least and I just hope that will be our only one this season. |
