Ghost stories plentiful

What spirits lurk in the shadows of LeRoy and Farmer City?
Apparently quite a few, if the legends told and retold each year around Halloween are true.
These stories have been documented in the pages of the LeRoy Journal over the years and in local history books, such as "Pride of the Prairie."
In one Civil War-era home in LeRoy, strange white lights and ghostly images have not only been reported, but featured on the television show "Sightings." After some research, some paranormal experts determined them to be the ghosts of Harriet Dickerson, who built the house with her husband, Robert, and Jonathan Grady, a one-time boarder who died a violent death.
The ghost of the old woman reportedly bothered a family that bought and remodeled the house. She moved tools and caused other nuisances until a paranormal investigator persuaded her to leave, according to the story. After she left, the second, nastier ghost manifested itself.
He would rattle and shake the dryer, even when it was unplugged. One woman who lived in the house was awakened when the ghost screamed "Die! Die! Die!" in her ear, according to the story.
That ghost apparently left after several seance-type sessions.
In Farmer City, Sasquatch -- Big Foot -- has been the subject of several sightings in the past. The legendary man-ape was spotted decades ago by three teenage boys who were camping. Hearing a rustling outside their tent, they investigated, only to come face to face with a large black creature with yellow eyes and a horrific odor.
