The title is, of course, a continuation (or possibly combination?) on my own personality and the naming conventions established in Anne McCaffrey's brainship books.
At this point I see my avatar in two story arcs, seperated from each other by a change of brawns.
Because I feel like being silly, I'm going to present these as episode summaries - think OAV. Definitely animated.
The first episode, The Face of the Void, should deal with a Shubian plot to create their own version of the Darkvoid Device (fortunately, the Machines have no idea what the DV^2 really -is-, and end up with the Eye of Fogler). Guest Starring Hugo Weaving as The Probe.
Next, The Eye of the Humanoid Typhoon is of course Trigun based. Carnage, adventure, donuts, and Frost has a philosophical discussion -without- resorting to violence.
The last Frost Story hasn't been decided yet.
The first of the next arc, The Roads We Choose to Take, would be a smallish, simple mystery/adventure piece interspersed with a series of flashbacks to how Nathan and his new brawn first met, years ago - a long and complex story involving an enchanted book, four gods, and Nathan's interesting esp-ability: his dreams tune into disturbances in the local psifield (structure of hyperspace). Given that he's a shellperson, and has spent a grand total of seventy-four hours in REM sleep in all his life, this is usually pretty useless, but that one time it let him play with a Ryuseisui.
Second we have explosions, humor, explosions, fanservice, explosions, politics and -really-big-explosions- in Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie (working title). Guest Starring Kei 'n' Yuri, The Dir- *ahem* Lovely Angels.
And, reaching the end of both the second 'trilogy' and my plans, we have The Halls of the Galactic Library, where we and our heroes learn some very interesting things about the Galactic Council. Guest Starring Rally Cheyanne, Nancy Makuhari and Yomiko Readman.
Well folks? Think it'll fly?
Blessed be.

Yomiko!Yomiko!Yomiko!Wai!
Did I mention I'm a big fan of her's?
>Well folks? Think it'll fly?<
<starts singing> I believe it will fly! I believe it can touch the sky!<gets whacked by the guy at the next terminal.>
Ahem, yup. Your pre-flight checks out, your flightplan's legit, the fees are all paid and the life ensurance's been made. Go get 'em ace.

This would be where we came in on the SwL fragment buried in the boards, yes?
Bonus points if you can get a Tolkien reference in with a Weaving cameo. Even more bonus points if you can get a Priscilla, Queen of the Desert reference in. ;)

A bad case of Read or Die on the brain, I think.. ah, well, it's worth it.
Hm.. I think it'll fly, but the only way to know for sure is to actually try, so...

Ja, so des.
One of the biggest flaws in Vash's philosophy, to my mind, is that it's -too- pure - he completely fails to acknowledge (or perhaps, to accept) that he lives in an imperfect universe where things rarely work out the way they, ideally, should.
Given how critical that fact, that struggle between morality and reality, is to the his character and Trigun's story, I can live with that.
But it should spark interestingly with Frostie's view of things.

Mmmhmm. C'mon, wouldn't you have one after the first time you saw it?
Note that that should properly be: Guest Starring Nancy Makuhari, Rally Cheyanne, Nancy Makuhari, Yomiko Readman, Nancy Makuhari, and extra super special guest star Maka Hari.
Hmm. Maybe I'd better explain that.
Nancy Makuhari was a Commonwealth undergrad student of Venusian extraction. She's supposed to be dead, but apparently posesses an unsuspected immortalent, and isn't.
Nancy I Makuhari was, despite the name, not actually a clone of the above. She was part of the initial batch of Ijin clones and was destroyed after developing various of the so-called Clone Psychosis. She's really dead, although some others from that batch aren't.
Nancy II Makuhari was the Miss Deep we knew and loved in Read or Die. She's dead too.
Nancy III Makuhari was supposed to be her replacement, but ended up half drowned and suffering some nasty brain damage. She spent some time in a clinic, and has since mostly recovered. She has all her old skills, but a completely new personality. When not in her 'professional' mode, she comes across as being a pleasant and biddable five-to-eight year old trapped in an adult's body.
Nancy IV Makuhari is another Ijin replacement, and remains in their service.
Maka Hari was the greatest spy/secret agent in Juraiian history. She was also the real template (both genetic and engram) of the 'Nancy Makuhari' clones. Any rumors that she's still alive are vigorously denied by Juraiian IEI.
>Hm.. I think it'll fly, but the only way to know for sure is to actually try, so...<
Gotcha. *pops knuckles*
Blessed be.

A pity, because IIRC nobody's managed to make reference to all three of Weaving's major roles in one story.. (Before Matrix, Weaving was best known for playing a drag queen in P,QotD. Such are the fortunes of Hollywood.)

This is very true. But on the the other side of that coin, that same refusal to accept things as they are is a major driving force for true change. Gandhi would've approved strongly of Vash, except for that whole carrying weapons thing. ;)
>But it should spark interestingly with Frostie's view

You mean the "Shoot Now, Shoot Later And Ask Questions Only When You Run Out Of Ammo" school of thought? ;)
Incidentally, is EotHT something like a "first contact" situation between the Trigun planet (Stantal? Something like that, I think.) and the rest of the Spiral, or at least the parts of the Spiral who matter? I've had a few Insidious Plans of my own for later on in the story arc that could synergize with EotHT if needed...

Of course, if you ask Juraiian IEI to check what time it is they vigorously deny everything, so this is no real confirmation of anything.

Yes, yes I think he would.

"Only when the pieces stop twitching," I think. After all, she -is- an Investigator.

That hadn't been my intention - I hadn't put much though into where Frostie would arrive on scene, but I had been intending that that world have been in limited contact with the outside galaxy for at least one generation.

That's an injustice to IEI, and even more so to Funaho. She's far too good at her job to pass up on a chance to use the truth.
If you deny everything, you miss so many opportunities to play those useful little mindgames, after all.
Blessed be.

Well, in terms of how the Spiral works that almost is a first contact situation.. I was thinking along the lines of low tech base, little to no trade with the outside, no jumpgate or Guild presence, basically having the Spiral as something you learn about in school but doesn't have any actual impact on the world - sort of like learning the location of $obscure_nation does in US schools...
..Right up to the point when 5 million Commonwealth refugees show up in orbit and ask if they can hang out for a year or two while the Resistance builds strength. Hilarity, naturally, ensues.
Or is that too Insidious?

Except that the occaisional Free Trader gives them a place to buy Plant parts, yeah.

...nan des ka? The FUCK?! Where'd -this- come from? Eric, do you know?

Not neccessarily, but it certainly takes explanation.

...I love it when I get that reaction.
No, Eric doesn't know where ths comes from, or at least he hasn't followed the same logic train I have. This is, of course, all still very much in the embryonic stages, so take that as you will..
I expect to get shot for this, but what the hell..
The story so far: On cue in Act II, we have the secession movement in the Commonwealth. This nascent civil war is put down swiftly (and some would say brutally) by the Authority, as this is what we're supposed to be paying them for, right? Right. Well, in UF this would be the point where we cue reconstruction efforts and wait for the DV shoe to drop.
Unfortunately for a lot of people, this isn't UF.
Once the Seperatists have ben taken care of, the Authority begins the Counter-Revolution, in order to make sure that all elements of society that aren't happy-happy-joy-joy with the Commonwealth are quite thouroughly purged. This includes the current Commonwealth government after they ask the Authority to stand the fuck *down.*
Counter-revolutions are fun if you're a superpowered zealot. Good historical examples would be: The Reign of Terror in revolutionary France, Year Zero in Cambodia, the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan.. you get the general idea of what life under Authority rule would be like.
The crystal ball is unclear whether or not the Authority has Servitor help at this stage, but couched in the proper terms I suspect that they would not be loath to accept it.
--
Okay, that's the broad strokes of how 5 million Commonwealthers end up orbiting above Vash's hometown. The finer details involve the Authority's push on Sol, and the Banzai Institute's biggest stunt since Dr. B. Banzai drove through a mountain in Texas. And *that* is another story altogether.
