Up the ass, with a splintery, acid-soaked, rusty-nail spiked broomstick.
Fuck your company, fuck your word processor with its I-Know-Better-Than-You-Ever-Could features so-called, and most especially fuck your inescapable house-of-cards OS that punishes and destroys anyone who dares attempt to do without Windows Word and its autosave.
The third Frost story will involve James Bond.
Blessed be.

>Which James Bond? Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton or Brosnan?
Probably Brosnan. Connery, to my mind, can certainly -sound- and -act- like Bond, but I don't think he really -looks- the part. Something about the shape of his face. I can't really call Lazenby or Moore to mind, which means either that I didn't see the movies (in which case they have no hold over my casting), I did see them but it was too long ago to remember (ditto), or I saw them but they weren't good enough to really register in my conciousness (so ditto). I'm quite fond of Dalton-as-Bond, but IIRC he didn't do more than a couple of films, and anyway Brosnan's better.
Blessed be.

b) I slightly prefer Dalton to Brosnan, but there's not much in it, and Brosnan's done, what, four movies to Dalton's two.

Of each thing ask what is it primary motivation, what is it nature, and most importantly, what sort of damage will it cause if thrown at a Visigoth with great force. -- From the unrecorded Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.

Well, both Dalton and Brosnan had the poor luck to take over the role after the Cold War ended and all the fun Free-World-Against-Evil-Commies bullshit had evaporated for the most part. And Dalton *really* got shafted in terms of scripts, I think.

Tools-> AutoCorrect and its subsections are the source of most of the 'I-know-more-than-you' crap Word dishes out, and hunt around Tools-> Options [the Save tab IIRC, but I don't feel like firing up Word just now] to axe most of the Autosavey garbage.

Leaving aside the load time, which is four to five times that of Notepad... (enough to be a grade A PITA)
It won't save as text. No *.txt for you!
Well, that's no really true, but it's much more trouble than it's worth.
Besides, the crashing isn't really an issue on my personal machine - I was pissed because I had written the opening scene for the proposed Bond cross in grand old Bond style, and then the computer I was using (which -wasn't- my usual) decided to be a bitch. Gone.
Besides, it wasn't my computer, so part of the point was not to save anything.
Honestly, I'm rather happy with my comp - it hasn't crashed once since I switched to Mozilla.
Blessed be.
