There are a lot of strange individuals wandering the modern Spiral. Many of them are refugees of one stripe or another - people who through some mischance were swept away from their homeworlds and stranded in strange skies.

One of these individuals is a human by the name of John Crichton. His origin is somewhat obscure - apparently pulled away from an as-yet undiscovered Terra Template somewhere in the galactic halo beyond the Rim by an unstable wormhole phenomenon. John found himself transported to the main disk, Taiidani Sextant to be precise, right into the middle of a pitched skirmish between Imperial Navy and rebel forces. He managed to survive and escape with some of the rebels, mostly through dumb luck, and now wanders around the Spiral trying to keep a low profile. His story is not unlike many other stories, and would serve as just another tale in the background noise of the Shining Spiral. Except for one thing.

John Crichton, through no fault of his own, has the trick for creating stable artificial wormholes locked in his head.

Needless to say, this makes him *very* popular...

Oh yes, of course he must be out there somewhere. I like him. He's silly.

Blessed be.
