The Legend of the Glorious 27th
Extract 'Regimental Histories, Eastern MILICIA'
"It was 1914. The 49th Heavy Gear regiment was deployed outside Loyang as part of the 27th Infantry Brigade when the Mekong Dominion and the Colonial Expeditionary Force. The first anyone knew about this was when a brigade of Peacekeepers turned up and explained they were going to negotiate the withdrawal of the MILICIA from the Dominion. The Comandant didn't see any way out so he took his staff to discuss terms in the Mekong HQ. We never saw any of them again.
"When the most senior officer we had left apporached the Peacekeepers to ask what would be happening, he was fired upon. The regiment was then fired upon by artillery. The majority of the regiment's officers had gathered in the command post to discuss the situation. The Peacekeepers knew where the command post was. None of the officers got out alive.
"At this point, Sous-Lieutenant Arislan ordered the regiment to surrender. Adjudant-Chef vonBraun then drew his sidearm and shot the Sous-Lieutenant in the head twice. A Military Police Caporal raised his rifle and was disarmed by the Adjudant-Chef, who then threw the weapon to the Sous-Caporal, advising him that if he thought he knew how to use it [the Adjudant-Chef], he could take his best shot.
"Adjudant-Chef vonBraun then entered his Heavy Gear and ordered all personnel to mount up in whatever transport they could manage. After a two minute pause during which he organised two platoons of Alpha and Delta Compagnies into a coherent force, he piped the March of Cambreadth across the regimental comm net and gave the following order: 'This is vonBraun. The Regiment will advance and assault upon the enemy positons. I will lead and you will follow. If you do not follow I will not kick you in the ass. I will shot you in the head. You WILL be more afraid of me than the enemy.'
The 49th then assaulted the Dominion lines, breaking through into the jungles west of Loyang with approximately one-half of the regiment mobile. Contact was then re-established with the 164th Infantry Regiment and Brigade HQ. In the mistaken belief that vonBraun was of greater rank than he, the Lieutenant in command of the largest remnant accepted vonBraun's orders to withdraw and regroup with the 49th Regiment. The combined force then proceeded west across the bulk of the Dominion to reach the Southern Republic, collecting surviving Republican and MILICIA troops and severely hindering Dominion and CEF forces through attacks upon supply points. On several occasions these supplies were removed and used by the 27th Brigade.
"After three months of continuous combat operations, the Brigade reached the rear lines of a CEF Division assaulting Republican positions around Bethany. Adjudant-Chef vonBraun then ordered a general attack, in complete contravention of established MILICIA combat doctrine for infantry. Wehn asked by the Republican forces to identify himself, vonBraun replied: 'This is the Glorious 27th MILICIA Infantry Brigade, you want to join this fight or what?'"

Axes flash, broadsword swing,
Shining armour's piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield,
Fight Those Bastards till They Yield
Midnight mare and blood red roan,
Fight to Keep this Land Your Own
Sound the horn and call the cry,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
Follow orders as you're told,
Make Their Yellow Blood Run Cold
Fight until you die or drop,
A Force Like Ours is Hard to Stop
Close your mind to stress and pain,
Fight till You're No Longer Sane
Let not one damn cur pass by,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
Guard your women and children well,
Send These Bastards Back to Hell
We'll teach them the ways of war,
They Won't Come Here Any More
Use your shield and use your head,
Fight till Every One is Dead
Raise the flag up to the sky,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
Dawn has broke, the time has come,
Move Your Feet to a Marching Drum
We'll win the war and pay the toll,
We'll Fight as One in Heart and Soul
Midnight mare and blood red roan,
Fight to Keep this Land Your Own
Sound the horn and call the cry,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
Axes flash, broadsword swing,
Shining armour's piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield,
Fight Those Bastards till They Yield
Midnight mare and blood red roan,
Fight to Keep this Land Your Own
Sound the horn and call the cry,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!

did you perhaps lose a bit up at the top that would have made it make more sense? It looks like theres at least one point where you stopped in the middle of one sentence and started up in the middle of another, and I can't help but feel that there might be useful exposition in some of that.
Also, it would be nice to have the one-sentence description for the various military forces (MILCIA, Republican, Peacekeeper, Mekong Dominion, and Colonial Expiditionary Force.
Thank you.

You're quite right, the first paragraph should read:
"It was 1914. The 49th Heavy Gear regiment was deployed outside Loyang as part of the 27th Infantry Brigade when the Mekong Dominion turned their coats and invited in the CEF.
Exposition:
(data correct as of canon and time period above)
Republican (Southern Republic, SR): The southern hemisphere is united into the Associated Southern Territories. The Southern Republic is not the first among equals. It IS the AST - other leagues merely are conquered vassals.
MILICIA (MILitary Insurgency/CounterInsurgency Army): The armed forces of the AST. Primarily used for garrison work or cannon fodder, since the real military power is held by the Southern Republican Army
Mekong Dominion (MD): The richest of the southern leagues, openly subserviant to the Southern Republic but privately undercutting them wherever possible.
Peacekeeper: The Mekong Dominion's Military, who are also their main police force and widely respected in both roles.
Colonial Expeditionary Force (CEF): In TN1913 (for comparison Act I starts in TN 2055) the New Earth Commonwealth dispatched a fleet of the Colonial Expeditionary Force to reconquer Terra Nova (Tierra Nueva being the local name). Other fleets were attacking other colonies.
