Recently, the thought of using dogs as check animals, has been discussed by some researchers. This is a great idea, as we know that dogs tend to have the same reaction when confronted with bigfoot. Typically, they seem to not want anything to do with bigfoot in the flesh, hair samples and some possible bedding areas. This could be a great indicator that evidence of this type does have a credible nature to it. However, we humans do not possess the ability of smell, as a dog does, are left to rely on his senses. There is not one thing wrong with that, people do it every day in different lines of work. Some people also use the senses of a dog to help guide them through every day, being blind.

The scope of this post is to present a similar but unique concept that may help solve the mystery of bigfoot. Having done some comparisons between bigfoot and gorillas, I am left with the belief that they are very similar. Albeit, many things concerning bigfoot still remain a mystery. That is ok, is what we as researchers should be here to do. Solve it.

Gorillas are folivores, meaning they primarily eat leaves and leafy plants. However, they will also eat fruit, seeds, flowers, roots, herbs, insects and clay. They eat clay to obtain minerals that otherwise wouldn't be present in their existing diet. Gorillas also use tactile communication in the form of social grooming. This behavior is used to maintain social bonds between individuals in the group. They also use several forms of visual communication. These different forms each have a meaning unto themselves. Displays of threat, dominance, aggression or annoyance, fear and playfulness are displayed in different manners by the gorilla. The visual display most associated with gorillas' is chest beating. Vocal communication is another aspect of the gorilla that is diverse. Calls range from roars, wraaghs, hoots, screams, barks, cries, belch vocalizations, chuckles, pig grunts, whines, to copulatory panting. They also have very interesting social behavior that defines the structure of the groups activities.

I am curious to know how a live, wild gorilla would act in an area that is inhabited by bigfoot, or in the presence of one. That would be a very interesting sight. With the unpredictability factor it would most surely be dangerous, not only for the gorilla, but anyone around. You would be able to tell what the gorilla is thinking by its' reactions, but the bigfoot would be hard to gauge. I am also curious to know if the gorilla would communicate fear by releasing its' fear smell. The concept here is that with the similarity in behavior, there may be an observable communication between the two. With this we may be able to gain more knowledge about this creature we call bigfoot. Share your thoughts on this if you like, I am interested in hearing what everything has to say about this idea.

"What have you done to benefit Bigfoot Research today?"

Thank you,
